The urine tests for STDs are just as good as the far less pleasant urethral swabs - believe them, they are good tests. In addition, if you have persistent symptoms after being treated sequentially with metronidazole, then tinidazole, you do not have trich. Could you be paying far more attention to yourself than the past. That is one possibility, the other is that something else is going on. You need not worry about STDs at this time. EWH
Fast forward to now...
1. I was given a single dose of Metrondazole and since the symptoms didnt seem to go away he then gave me a 7 day dose of Tinidazole. STill my only symptom is that I have to urinate OFTEN and sometimes it doesnt want to come out easily. Very slight irritation at the tip of my penis. No noticable discharge.
2. The Urine test for STD's came back negative a few days ago. He also did a PSA and CBC test that came back negative or ok. Blood tests for sypallis and Hiv were also negative.
3. The one culture swab he did somehow got sent back to the office . paper work messed up or somethin. So should I trust the URINE tests for STDs? Mainly Trich since that is what I was told by the female. (which could be false as she has fallen off the face of the earth) I was treated twice both single doses. Metrondizole and Tinidazole.
First of all, thank your partner for telling you. Unfortunately, some do not. If she had trich. metronidazole is highly effective.
As for your continued discomfort, treatment without an examination is not such a good thing. The treatment you received would be good for a bladder infection but not for the STDs most likely to be present, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) or chlamydia. If your symptoms are still present, I would suggest you request a swab test to look for white blood cells (this would indicate NGU) and a test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. If any of these are present, the treatment is pretty straightforward and highly effective. In addition, should you be found to have any of the above, you need to reciprocate your partner's good will and inform that she should bet treated for whatever you have as well.
I hope this helps. EWH
