STD Oral Risk or Not?

Hi Experts,

I am looking for some advice regarding a situation I’ve put myself in.

Basically, 4 weeks ago me and my friends hired a few strippers for a 30th birthday party. When we were all very drunk I was stripped naked on a stage and one of the strippers put her mouth round my penis pretended to bite as a joke. My penis was in her mouth for 30 seconds (max) - I wasn’t subjected to any cuts or damage on my penis but it did enter her mouth. I have a girlfriend and unsure whether I should tell her about this experience (although I doubt she would see the funny side).

I am slightly worried because I here you can contract gonorrhoea, herpes and syphilis from oral encounters – albeit very low risk. I have had no physical symptoms from maybe some genital focused anxiety due to worry.

I have a few questions:

1) Do I need to be worried?
2) What are my chances of catching an STD? 1 in 10,000 / 1 in 100,000 etc
3) Do I need testing?

I appreciate any advice / guidance that you can offer.

1. I guess if it did anything it would have cured it, if you had it
2. 6 weeks
3. Yes

Hi Vance,

I had same day testing done this morning – got my results in 3 hours and all negative. I have worked out that my event happened over 1 months ago (5 weeks ago 2 days to be exact).

A have a few questions that I would appreciate your expertise with (only because reading things on google has created some small concern):

1. My main worry was NGU / Gonorrhoea (albeit the low risk), are you sure my tetracycline treatment would not have influenced this result?
2. I here syphilis testing starts at 6 weeks, are my results conclusive in the 5th week?
3. I’ve had blood and NAAT testing, are they near 100% accuracy?

Thank you again

According to google lymecycline is the same as tetracycline. I believe this is sometimes used for std infections. I havent been taking this for std prevention because i wasnt aware its uses until i went on google.

Final questions vance.

1. Considering im taking a tetracycline can i assume negative test results on gonorrhea / clymidia tomorrow officially means negative?

2. How accurate are NAAT urine testing methods?

Thanks again, people like you are greatly appreciated.

Herpes and syphilis are 3 months and 6 weeks for testing. Gonorrhea, NGU and chlamydia would be conclusive.

Have not heard of that medication before but would assume it would have no effect, but check with a Dr.

I think i'll leave that and just get same day testing tomorrow. I have been taking lymecycline for a skin problem will this affect my tests tomorrow? Basically if i am negative tomorrow can i assume my results are accurate?

Like I said no specific numbers to give.

If you want find out how many people in your area have had gonorrhea, then cut that in 1/2 and then cut in 1/2 again. Then divide that by the population number. That will give you a very rough estimate.

I appreciate answering my questions Vance.

I haven't had symptoms but out of anxiety I will get tested tomorrow.

As a rough 'estimate' in %, any ideas what my chances of catches something based on my brief 30 second exposure? 0.01%, 0.1, 1%. 5% etc??
