STD Risk

Good afternoon,

I recently had unprotected oral sex with a sexworker.  It lasted less than a minute.  Should I be concerned about STD's?  The incident happened 3 days ago, and I, obviously, am yet to have symptoms (if I ever do).  Is oral sex something that passes std's easily?  Should I continue with my sex life, or go get tested?  Thanks for your time.

this was very low risk and not worth much worry at all. time to stop worrying and walk away from the computer and keep your mind occupied on other things!

Finally -- although I am sure that I do not have anything, except a solid case of paranoia, here comes the final question (and I really mean that!!!)...are the symptoms very noticeable?  I would feel a significant amount of burning or pain during urination right?  Is it common to have very mild symptoms that are present, yet, insignificant?  Its been 10 days since I did the deed.

Most likely

If I do not notice any symptoms after 8-10 days would you assume that I am in the clear for Gon and NGU?

You might not notice the discharge right away, but you would probably see some type of stain on your underwear to begin with.

Last question.  Still no obvious symptoms, and yet to have unprotected sex out of precaution.  Would the symptoms of Gon or NGU come on very slowly, or would I know they were there all of a sudden?  It will be 1 week tomorrow, but I am still overly analyzing all sensations down there.  Guess I'm still paraniod (as I guess is obvious by my continuous questioning.)...Thanks again.

I will tell you that the Dr's on this site would probably say ok to have sex.

Thanks for your time, Vance.  Would you suggest, based upon our previous conversations that I hold off having unprotected sex?  Or, based upon risk and the 5 days without symptoms, is it reasonable at this time to assume all is well and continue my sexual life?  I know that you cannot tell me what to do, but based upon statistics, but would you tell the average person yay or nay at this point.

Gonorrhea symptoms show in 2-5 days. Chlamydia if you get symptoms in 10-14 days. But chlamydia from oral is not going to happen.

Hello again.  I notice that Vance stated that symptoms for Gon would be there in about five days, but bigwreck stated that 10 - 14 is more accurate.  Well, I am at 5 days and do not have any symptoms.  Is this encouraging?  Or just normal that the symptoms would not show up this early?  I'm still pretty anxious, but having no symptoms has eased my mind just a tad.  Thanks for your follow up,

You will notice symptoms from the most probably things within 10-14 days (Gono and NGU)

Gonorrhea and NGU symptoms appear in about 5 days. Syphilis in about 21 days (only transmitted with direct contact with a syphilis sore) and herpes about 2-3 weeks most likely.

Would I notice most symptoms within 10 days of exposure?  I assume that I am okay; I asked if she was clean, she said yes...but who knows.

In addition to what Vance said, I would add that you hold off on unprotected sex for at least 10 days just to be sure you don't have any symptoms

Oral sex is a low risk activity. I see no reason at this moment to be tested.
