STD Symptoms

About 4 weeks ago I was given protected oral sex by a prostitute.  Since then I have had no symptoms except mild itching by my scrotum and pubic hair and a sore throat.  I know from your previous posts I probably don't have anything to worry about but I would still like your opinion since I feel extremely guilty about what I have done.

Dr., I have been with my girlfriend for a year and a half, and have been faithful the whole time. Well before I met here I had noticed some bumps on my penis and my doctor and dermatoligist diagnosed them as warts with doing a blood test and gave me treatment and they went away and haven't been back. Recently however my girlfriend has said that she has noticed a considerable amount of vaginal discharge and has even noticed small chunks. I have been away from home for almost three weeks, and won't be back soon, and she has been extremely stressed out and missed a period and her pregnancy test was negative. Could I have gave her something before I left? I am pretty sure she has been faithful but am not positive. If she has something what could it be??

Doc- Still having some trouble getting past this; I even went and took another OraQuick test at 9 weeks: NEGATIVE.

The CDC is telling me 13 weeks is a conclusive test (and none before)?  Do I need to test again in 4 weeks?

Not that I doubt your opinion at all, but it's a little disconcerning seeing all the different info out there (even from the CDC) and other HIV/AIDS sites.

Dr.- Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.  I have done similar calculations (with very conservative numbers and still come up with something like 1 in 10 million), but hearing this from a renowned STD expert like yourself who deals in these situations each day of their 30 year career is sweet music to my ears!!

Even if she was HIV+, it appears my chances of having it are still like 1 in a million (with my 10-12 seconds of insertive oral, and two negative HIV tests at 4 and 7.5 weeks), right?

Dr.- Thank you in advance for reading my question.  I'm a married hetero male, and I had a very similar experience as the gentleman above.  With the exception that I took the condom off for a brief period (10-12 seconds), before I stopped the white female stripper for good.  I have been FREAKING out about HIV ever since then.  I was tested with OraQuick at 4 weeks (NEGATIVE) and HomeAccess (1st Gen ELISA, I believe?) at 7.5 weeks.  Am I freaking out for no reason?  I desperately want to resume my love life with my wife?  What do you think?  Is the HomeAccess a more up to date test than the 1st generation ELISA, and therefore more reliable?  Should I take another Oraquick this week (I'm at 8+ weeks right now)?  PLEASE HELP!

Yes, you are freaking out for no reason.  The likelihood the stripper was HIV infected is very low, probably less than one in a thousand.  The chance you got infected, even if she was, is even lower, mabye 1 in 10,000.  The chance a test (even "first generation" ELISA) would miss your infection, if you had one, is less than 1% (ie, 1 in 100).  Multiply the risks to calculate the odds that you acquired HIV from that encounter:  0.001 x 0.0001 x 0.01 = 1 chance in a billion.  For practical purposes, you can consider it zero.  Don't hesitate to resume sex with your wife.

Unfortunately, I'm not capable of assuaging guilt. I can only confirm what you already have said yourself:  you didn't get an STD from the encounter you describe.
