STD exposure ???

by Jeannie65, Feb 08, 2009 12:39PM
Two days ago my husband had a large amount of bright red bloody urine with clots present. He went to our doctor and had a urinalysis done with culture and sensitivity test and the results will not be back for a few days. He was put on Levequin antibiotic and told it was an infection. We are in our late 50's and he admitted to having unprotected sex with another woman he just met about 4 weeks ago. We have had sex numerous times during the past 4 weeks and I am terrified that he has a STD and has now passed it on to me. Will a culture and sensitivity test show STD? Please tell me what I should do as far as getting myself tested. I am not sure now that this has been his only sexual contact with other women over the past 3 years since we were married.Thank you for allowing me to submit a question.

Well any unprotected encounter could lead to STD transmission if the other person has it. It does sound more like an infection then anything else.
I would advise him testing for STD's as well as you.
Gonorrhea/Chlymida-1 week
Syphilis-6 weeks
HIV-3 months
Herpes-4 months
Those are the testing times for 100% conclusive tests.

But also remember that most people don't have STD.

Thank you so much for the information. I assume since the contact he had was 4 weeks ago we can say it is not Gonorrhea/Chlymida. Regardless I will be tested for everything and tell him he should do that too.
Will the urinalysis culture and sensitivity show any STD? He had a urinalysis with C&S done 6 days prior to the bloody urine and it was all negative, that does not make sense to me that an infection could become that severe in 6 days.
Again thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it so much.

I don't know if a urinaylsis will show it, I don't believe so but can't be certain.
Probaly not gonorrhea or chlymida.
