You can stop with the antibiotics now. If you had gonorrhea or chlamydia, it would have been cured several times over.
There's a small chance that you could have gotten HPV, herpes or syphilis from this, but if she didn't have any sores, the chances are not that likely.
Thank you for your reply. I know from internet research that some Asian strains of STD's are resistant to Cipro. I have also read that you should treat for both gonorrhea and chlamydia at the same time thus the overkill with the doses. I guess my question is since I did see one small discharge 2 days ago but have seen nothing since, does this mean it is likely cured if I even had it? I will get tested ASAP but was hoping that the discharge gone and no other symptoms present meant I had cleared it up quickly if I had it. Thanks again for your response..
Cipro isn't the first line of treatment for gonorrhea anywhere anymore, or it shouldn't be, but if it wasn't resistant, then all you'd need is 500 mg once of cipro, and 1 gm once of zithromax.
You should stop the antibiotics, wait 2 weeks, and then test.
I don't know if the discharge going away means anything. If you do have a resistant strain of gonorrhea, it could just mean that the cipro and zith are working enough to inhibit the growth of the bacteria, but not actually killing it.
Or it could mean you had it and cured it, or that it wasn't either of those in the first place.
Thanks again for your help. I went ahead and stopped the cipro and zithromycin but did just take 400mg of Suprax which is is what is used now to combat all gonorrhea including Asian strains. I will get tested next week and see how it goes and stay away from my girlfriend until then. Any other suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated. I am still pretty freaked out about this..
