STD symptoms???

by Chiwade, Mar 27, 2009 07:22PM
Hello Doc,

I had unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex with a prostitute back in November. The unprotected oral lasted for about 3-5 minutes, then the vaginal. A few days after the encounter I started to experience discomfort in my testicles, no discharge or burning during or after
urination. I have done Internet research and have read numerous post and forums on this site pertaining to stds. I have had Discomfort and
mild pan in my testicles before about a year ago, I was tested for all
stds and the test came back negative and again this was about a year
ago the pain eventually went away. I would say about in January I
noticed a small amount of clear discharge after milking my penis, no
burning or itching just a dull uncomfortable ache in testicles. Also I have had sex with my girlfriend of three years numerous times since the encounter. Twice after sex she had had syptoms (symptoms) of vertigo(headache, dizziness, unbalanced, groogyness). She hasn't complained of any common STD syptoms (symptoms). I don't know if my ache testies and small amount t of discharge is due to the encounter or simply anxiety. I'm going for a full panel STD test monday. My questions are since the encounter occured almost five months ago would I have definte STD syptoms (symptoms) and what would they be? And if it is non-STD related ngu is it still contagious. Also I I only get the discharge after urination sometimes and when i'm sexually excited, I don't have to be erect but it looks and feels
Much like precum it's crystal clear and kinda sticky/slimy like saliva. Thanx

The combination of a small amount of discharge and testicular pain following exposure to a commercial sex worker is worrisome for STD and going to get checked is the right thing to do. When you do, try not to have urinated for at least an hour and preferably 2 hours before your are seen. It will help some of the testing which I suspect will be performed.

Having said that your symptoms are worrisome, overall your risk of STD is still rather low. The things that make STD a bit less likely include that you used a condom for your vaginal exposures (but you could still have infection from the receipt of unprotected oral) and the fact that the symptoms started so long after your exposure.  In addition the description of the discharge (clear) and that it is most common when you are aroused makes it possible that this is normal discharge.  getting checked it the right thing to do.   Overall my guess is that you do not have an STD but, it remains possible and worth testing for.

As for your GF's symptoms, they are not consistent with STD and are not something to worry about.  At the same time, if you are treated for an STD following your evaluation Monday, even if it is just NGU, she should also be treated with the same medication.

Hope this helps.  Let us know what he tests show Monday.  EWH
