STD

I am 28 male.I had protected anal (Condom)sex with a call girl two years back in 2006. One week after the intercourse i started to have fever and sore throat. But no sores, rashes on penis. Als no symptoms like pain during urination or blood or discharge etc. And the fever and sore throat was there on and off . After few weeks rash/red bumps came up especially on the thighs and all over the body . When i went to doctor he examined and treated for scabbies.I was ok skin wise but still had mild fever and sore throat.

I got tested for the major STD as follows exactly one year after the intercourse with call girl in order to satisfy the seroconversion periods

Herpes I, Herpes II, Gonnoreah, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hiv
But surprisingly all of them came negative.

Soon after this test i started to notice swelling and lymph nodes in my throat and it was really alarming. There was a lot of mucus in mouth and ulcers as well that my primary doctor suspected Herpes. But did not test for that.

I took a 3 week anitbiotic course and started to feel better but did not last long. Again sore throat, mild fever and high fever once in a while.
Then stopped taking medication and sore throat got really severe and consulted an ENT physician, who advised getting the throat culture. It came up as a streptococcus positive. On his advise got the tonsils removed (tonsilectomy) because of recurrent throat pain, neck pain and chronic sore throat (pharyngitis). Took a 2 week antibiotic course after this ,it looked it was ok. As soon as i stopped the medication i have started to get the sore throat, mild fever , burning of thighs and high fever once in a while.

The chronic sore throat and mild fever has been ther for almost 2 years on and off......I am really confused as to what is causing this problem ? Is this an Hiv/ STD infection?
This has been a chronic problem and i am not able to concentrate on whatever i do......Awaiting ur reply

Your blood tests provide information to show that you do not have herpes - you do not need additional testing.  You do not have an STD.  No further questions please.  EWH

Also i forgot to mention in those previous posts, there is tingling and burning sensation in the thigh and lower abdomen every other day. But there is no significant rash in those areas for the naked eyes. Now i am suspecting that rashes on legs was not maybe due to scabbies.

I have been to dermatologist and he was saying it is a normal allergy, but it has been there for 2 years on and off

My blood test (one year after the intercourse) for the Herpes had the following

HSV-1 ab IgG  < 0.9
HSV-2 ab IgG  < 0.9

What does this mean and how do i interpret those results.......

Is there any other test to confirm or rule out herpes ??

Thanks in advance for your reply

I am sorry to hear of the health problems you have had over the past two years.  I can assure you that they are not due to an STD or HIV.  I say this for two reasons.  First of all, your risk was virtually non-existent.  Condom protected sex is safe sex.  Secondly, you have had an extensive set of negative tests a year after your exposure.  The tests are very, very good and when your negative test results are considered in the context of your very low risk exposure, there is simply no realistic reason to consider STDs or HIV as the cause.

So, before you ask, let's address what should you do now.  A complex, chronic and recurring problem such as yours deserves the continuing attention of a health care professional who can examine you, perform tests or interventions and then modify them if they do not work or only work in part.  Taking care of the problem may take some trial and error, thus you need to address it with a health care provider that you feel comfortable.

Bottom line, your current difficulties are not due to an STD encountered int he exposure you describe.  Hope this is helpful.  EWH
