STDS??

I have a question that i might know half of its answer,anyway it has all started when i lost my virginity with my ex girlfriend 3 years ago.we started having unprotected sex,so couple of weeks later i was diognised as NSU(non-specific urethrithis) and she was diognised as a rash case.So we kept on curing ourselves but i guess not properly because we had something back everytime and kept on swapping back either i have something but she doesnt or vice versa untill we decided to treat ourselves in the same time! anyway we broke up but i fellt like iwanted to keep checking on my self so i did and had the same thing again but went to cure it.but thats not my problem,my problem is this ,if i cured it and they tell me that i dnt have anything thing and then when i had protected sex with few partners i have something again!So i guess my question is why i keep having it again and again? Please tell me any logic explanation!Do i need to stop having sex because my urethritis area gets excited that it develops it?
