Scabies symptoms

Hi - a sexual partner recently told me there was an outbreak of scabies in his hospital ward where he worked - this was a week ago.  I've read that the symptoms won't appear until 3-4 weeks after infection if it has occured or 2-3 days if you were infected before.  i've no symptoms yet after a week.  I've had crabs before - should the symptoms have appeared by now due to me having crabs?  Or could they still only appear in 2/3 weeks time?

Your past crabs infection has nothing to do with now, so it won't affect anything.

Unfortunately, you will have to wait.  In the meantime, you might wash all your bedding in hot water, especially if he spent time in the bed.  Has he had any symptoms yet?

Unfortunately it was a once off - so I don't know.  Though he said he'd been treated so I'm assuming the symptoms won't arrive in his case.

I think I'll go and get a prescription of permethrin and follow the procedure as if I did have it - will this work as a prevention/cure?  I'll also wash the bedding and clothes I've used since.  I can't sleep as every little itch I feel is magnified as I'm now paranoid about having the infection.  Although I seem to be itching more in the past week than normal - so possibly have the early stage symptoms.
