Scared Guy With Possible Acute HIV Infection

I had sex with a guy in January 10, unprotected sex, the thing is last Friday (25) I woke up with sore throat, I didn't put much attention to it, it was irritated and I could see red skin on the back of my mouth, on Monday night (28) I felt my neck swollen but again I didn't put much attention to it until yesterday (29) I read on the internet that I could have Acute HIV infection. I'm really scared, No diarrhea, rash, or other pain so far, just the swollen neck and my irritated throat. I can't sleep since yesterday but I think it has to do with my anxiety... how long should I wait to get tested? I don't feel like I can wait three months, I read on other question that a 25 day test should be ok. Do I have HIV? or are my symptoms Acute HIV infection related?

Today (25 days later) no rash, no diarrhea, no headache, I'm a lot better from my throat only a huge muscular pain but I Think it's stress, My nose is a little bit runny but that has to do with my throat infection, right? I'm really scared about all this, but I have to wait. I talked to several doctor and they told me they don't think it's an HIV Infection, just a throat infection that has to do with weather changes in my country.

Yeah lymph nodes usually swell from infection/with an immune response. And you have a throat infection!! :} So that's where it's coming from but it's nice to have those big fat negatives in black and white! :}

I don't feel my throat sore anymore, but my lymph nodes are still big, I don't know what to feel, no rash, or the other symptoms of Acute HIV Infection, soooo perhaps my lymph’s are like that for the Throat infection, right?. Anyway I’ll be back when I get the tests results; I hope this will be only a bad experience.

Basically you have a throat irritation/inflammation/infection, you'll be fine :) Don't stress out about the HIV test, if you feel better already, then it's most likely not it :}

over 95% of people infected with HIV will test positive by 6 weeks.  So yes you cuold be false negative in three months, but the odds of it are slim.  The 6 week test you say is best.  Remember that a sore throat can be from any infection not just HIV so the symptom cannot tell you you have HIV.

I got two shots one on wenesday and other yesterday, I feel a lot better, but I think my anxiety is killing me, almost literaly, I'll wait until the 6 week mark to get tested, I hope i'll be alright.

You should get tested now and tell your doctor your concerns but you can test false negative until the three month mark. Those symptoms are vague, it can or cannot be related, please don't worry and scare yourself till you get some accurate results.
