And so the months passed and i all but forgot about my unfortunate little bumps. A few weeks ago though, i noticed a small scab in my pubic region. upon closer look, i realized that there were three little white bumps, one about 1.5mm and the other two under 1mm, located around the scab. I dont think that they were blisters, because they were rather hard. There was no tenderness or pain or swelling in the area until i scratched at one of them thinking that it could be a possible pimple or ingrown hair(i did find some hairs growing out of the smaller bumps and one growing out of the base of the larger spot) . At first the spot just got red, i assume a product of my scratching. about a week later one of them did pop, again a product of me meddling with it and it leaked out a small amount of clear liquid, a bit of blood, and scabbed over. since then i have left it alone and today, a little over two weeks since i first noticed the first scab, the spot, including the scabs and the small bumps have nearly disappeared.
there are still a few small hard bumps on my penis shaft, similar to the ones just described, but they have been there since august. Some of the others have disappeared completely, while one has gotten a bit bigger over the past few months. the spots dont cause any problems, they dont hurt, or leak. they are just annoying on a personal level.
What do you think this could be? My gut reaction is that my doctor was right, that they were nothing serious, however, she did not tell me what they were. I understand that you cannot really do much from your computer to properly diagnose the problem, but it would be nice to hear another opinion. At first i though that they could be herpes, but since they have remained for longer than a week or so, and because they never turned into an ulcer i dont think that i have the herp.
What could be my problem, Molluscum, sebaceous prominence, sexually transmitted infection?
If you doctor already saw similar bumps and didn't think they are HPV or Molluscum, then I'd have to side with her. There is just not enough evidence from any description here to think that they are something else. And those are the two things I'd even think of, definitely not consistent with HSV or any other STD.
Unfortunately, there's no test in males for HPV or Molluscum. But it doesn't sound like HPV or Molluscum to me either.
To check for genital warts soak a cloth in vinegar and wipe the area where the bumps are. leave the vinegar on for about 5 min. if the bumps turn white they are warts, and if not then they are something else. I don't know what type of doc you are seeing, but family doctors are not the best doc to see when worried about an std. They have too broad of a spectrum of knowledge and may not realize what the bumps are for sure. Good luck!
