Sex and Period

Hi guys,
Firstly thank-you to anyone who takes the time out of there day and posts a reply
Just a quick question that is really worrying me.
I had sex 2 nights ago with a girl I have known for a long time and can almost certainly say she is HIV-.
We had unprotected sex when she was on her period and when I pulled out I had dry blood on my penis.
I was just wondering does this increase the risk of anything more than say it was unprotected but no period
What risks can I be exposed to if she is STD free. Again, is it worse then having sex, without the girl being on the period
Thanks so much

Hi Jack this is just for information :

Kindly read this article :
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8885071

Sexual intercourse during menstruation may emerge more consistently as a risk factor for the heterosexual transmission of HIV or other sexually transmitted pathogens in future studies. If future epidemiologic studies continue to bolster this finding, then public health efforts should promote abstinence during the female menstrual period and target those groups of women among whom this practice is prevalent.

Grace thanks so much for your prompt reply.
I really, really appreciate it
Look, I am more than certain she doesn't have HIV because I would have got it from her already, but I will test for STD's
Well done doing what your doing, and keep helping out those who need it
Have a lovely day
Cheers

actually sex during her period isn't any risky than sex when she doesn't have it.

so things to consider - does she really get full std testing and was it all done at the proper times after her prior partner?  Even though you know this gal, rather naive to assume she does as well as pregnancy can still be a risk even during menstruation. always protect yourself by only having protected sexual contact!!!

since you had unprotected sex, we recommend you follow up with proper testing at the proper times. You can test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and ngu anytime after 1 week post encounter. syphilis after 6 weeks. herpes, hiv and hepatitis after 3 months.   we don't have tests for hpv in males to cover that base.

Hi mate, thanks a lot for your message
I appreciate your feedback very much
Well I know almost 100% she doesn't have HIV because many times we have had unprotected sex and I caught nothing
So do you think I should be OK from anything to serious?
Cheers

Usually sex during periods is risky for STD's ,( female to male and vice versa )
one thing you can do is find out if she has any infection , if she doesnt then you can relax , why you are thinking about just HIV ? there are many viral and bacterial STD's that can be infected through unsafe sex.
