I understand. I just need to be calm. Thanks for the responses and thanks for being there. I just wanted someone to say I am ok and there is nothing to worry about.
I am sorry, as you point out, you are getting out of control on this and need to stop. Herpes lesions do not occur scattered around the body in the fashion you describe. They are most unlikely to be herpes. It is also becoming clear that my responses to your questions only serve to feed your anxiety. Thus, both because my responses are adding little and may be doing harm by feeding your anxiety, it is now time to stop this thread. No further questions please. Even internationally you can find good health care providers who can examine you and provide advise. Further questions will be deleted. EWH
also, I see the formation of two very tiny (Size of a sharpened pencil point) boils at the part on the buttocks where it is hurting me. I am really scared what are my chances of getting herpes. Why am I seeing all these boils and stuff.
I forgot to mention, I also have a burning sensation on the left armpit and a slight pain in my right buttock. The pain in the buttock somewhat like I would get if something hit me there. I can not stop thinking abt this. I think am losing it now.
Most often, herpes lesions, when they occur, occur as clusters. First episodes typically last more than 10 days, sometimes as long as three weeks. Recurrences last only a few (3-5) days. My guess is that if the doctor says it is a boil, it is. I also agree that there is no reason to get a blood test at this time. If the lesion recurs, then a blood test might help. Best to wait until at least three months post expsoure for the herpes blood test. EWH
I forgot to ask. How long do herpes boils last for. The single boil that I have is begining to fade away now. And the episode happened exactly 6 days back. Sorry to bother you with so many questions. I will be safe and in good hands once I am back to my home country. Its just that I am visiting here and am really scared.
Dr. Hook:
I have a general question abt STDs. Can a herpes outbreak be a single boil?. I went to the doctor in Kora and she said its probably a syst out of bactirial infection on the sweat gland. She mentioned that for any STD several boils appear not just one. Is that true? The internet has contradictory information on this. Some say it may be a single boil and some say it sppears in clusters or a few boils at various places on the body. Dr. here recommended I wait and see if I get any other boil or some other symptoms before getting a blood test. Also, when I do get a test, id just a blood test enough for making sure nothing is wrong?
Thanks
Best Regards.
Herpes lesions can appear like boils. The only way to tell is to see a doctor who can make an asssessment and take a culture if needbe. Based on your history, I suspect what is going on is folliculitis (a hair bump) EWH
I am seeing a boil on my stomach just abt an inch and a half below my navel. I am not sure if it is a hair ingrowth. My headachs are gone and neck pain is also not there. I am not sure if the boil was there before or not. But right now it is a little painful. I think I may have aggrevated the ingrown hair by touching it many times in order to check what it is. Could this be herpes from the episode? Can some one get boils on the stomach due to herpes? I know I should be going to the doctor to get a test done but am in a different country and I am waitng to get back home. really appereciate ur answers.
Neck pain is a non-specific findng. Without the presence of lesions or other sign of infection there is no reason for you to worry about herpes. EWH
Thanks for you reply.
I will try and post that question on the other forum. I did have a question about STDs. I have a neck pain it started today ~ 48 hours after the episode. I do feel a little bit tired and the head ach is intermittent. I read abt the symptoms of herpes. And I am just scared. Please advise.
You have posted on the wrong site. Questions about HIV belong on the HIV prevention site. I will do my best to answer your questions with this reply but, if you have additional questions or follow-up they must be on the HIV Prevention site. Sorry
As for the exposures you describe, you have nothing to worry about. Your only exposure of any consequence at all is your brief unprotected receipt of oral sex and your risk from that is tiny. Condoms were used and they are highly effective. That she started her period does not modify your risk at all and is nothing to worry about.
As for your symptoms, neither HIV nor any known STD causes symptoms which begin within a day of having sex. Whatever is causing you to cough and feel poorly is not something you got from her.
Bottom line- you are at zero risk and have nothing to worry about. No testing is needed - take care. EWH
