Small bump between butt cheek and thigh - what is it?

by bluevase, May 10, 2009 12:32AM
Hello,
Over a month ago, I noticed a small bump between my inner thigh and buttocks. I am a bit of a hypochondriac, so I started freaking out that it was herpes. I remember pinching it or squeezing it.. It started to bleed (very very little), and then I pulled the tiny bit of excess skin off. The reason I did this, is because I recently had a tiny skin tag on my armpit, and I thought it could be a skin tag as well.

A little bit after that (within a week or two), it started to come back. It seems a bit larger than I remember but I can't say for sure. I had a routine pelvic exam a few weeks ago - the doctor looked at my discharge under a microscope, saw nothing unusual, and the tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea came back negative. It has been about 2 months since my last sexual partner. I should have asked her about the bump while I was there, but I forgot, and she didn't say anything.

My last pap was normal (last July), but I have had multiple sexual partners since then. Most were protected, but I know that doesn't always protect against some things. I have no other bumps or legions on my body, and no other unusual symptoms. Just this one lonesome bump, I have looked at photos of gential warts, skin tags, and molluscum contagiosum. I'd say molluscum contagiosum is the closest resemblance. However, I have touched it and other areas of my body before and no other bumps have showed up. I think there may be a dimple in the middle - it's so hard to tell. Any ideas?

Your help is much appreciated! :)

well we cant tell you what your have but as you indicated above it could be several things;
wart, molluscum, skin tag ect.

The best thing for you to do is see a dermatologists. And it doesn't sound like herpes.

Thanks kdaily,

Do you think I need to see a dermatologist, or could I just see a regular doctor? Also, would it be any harm to try an at home wart remover?

A regular Dr might be able to diagnosis you or he might refer you to a dermatologist. I would not recommend a home wart remover because if it is not that then you might cause more harm.
