Sores in groin fold. Herpes?

Hi all,

I'm a male that has had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a lady I met on a night out.  A few days later I developed a rash on my scrotum and down in the folds on my leg - I was out that day and was wearing compression pants.  About a week later I developed these sores in the skin fold between leg and groin.  They looked to occur in a straight line and were generally located near the base of my hair follicles.  There were no blisters but are sensitive to the touch.  A couple were a little worse than the other.  I had one swabbed a few days later and results were negative for HSV1&2.  A dull pain with no itching had maintained around a smooth/dry area for a few weeks and looked to be healing until the sores returned.  I had them immediately swabbed again with the same result.  Had an iGG blood test at 4 weeks with the same outcome.

Every doctor and GUM professional has looked at them and has said it's not herpes.  However, no-one can tell me what it is.  Given I haven't had this before, I find the timing of the symptoms quite convenient.  I have used steroid and fungal creams that really haven't helped all that much.

I'm at a bit of a loss with the results and have convinced myself that I have herpes.  It would be great to know your thoughts.

Best.

If you scratched it enough, sure it could. That whole area is humid most of the time and doesnt see the light of day often and scratching and infections can linger. Even scratching the area from the outside could cause fabric softners and detergents to inflame the area also

Hi, thanks for your comment.  It could potentially be that for sure.  I was wondering though - can heat rash cause ulceration?  It's just that I have had ulcerations in that specific area.

Hi and welcome. Testing times for herpes is 3 months post encounter. It sounds like youve got prickly rash heat from wearing the tight pants and with the scratching with dirty finger nails has turned into a somewhat cronic condition. You should see a dermatoligist who specializes in these things. Also with unprotected sex with a stranger you might consider a full std panel testing esp if you have a long term partner.
