Spreading HPV via shaving

Spreading HPV via shaving

My HPV breakout consists of very tiny, almost undetectable pinhead sized warts, and the only way I can see them is using a high powered flashlight and magnifying glass.  My problem is that I have to shave away the pubic hair or I will never be able to see and treat them.  I am using the end of an electric razor, the part that flips out for beard trimming.  The problem is this is spreading the warts, and I know this because they appear in a perfect line where I shaved.  So how am I supposed to remove the hair without spreading them, if I don't I won't be able to treat them.  Nair just seems to make them worse.

Also, I am convinced that wiping with toilet paper is spreading the warts to my anus, as they are starting to appear right along the "wipe line", sorry for this unpleasant question but I have to ask.  Thank you Doctor Handsfield.

Has a knowledgeable health care provider confirmed that the lesions you describe in fact are warts?  Such small, difficult-to-see warts are not the norm.  Further, genital warts rarely occur in hair-bearing areas, i.e. in the pubic hair area.  That said, if warts indeed are present, shaving probably could spread them more widely, and should be avoided.

Warts often appear in the anal area of infected women, but there is no evidence that wiping habits or the direction of wiping has anything to do with it.

Yes they are warts, and have been diagnosed as HPV by my doctor.  They are under the pubic area just above my genitals.  If I can't shave the hair away, how do you recommend I remove the hair so that I can see the warts to be treated?  Thank you!

Well, I'm not sure--I've never been asked that before.  Maybe use scissors to cut the hair very short, maybe 1-2 mm; I would think you would be able to see the lesions.  Or check with the provider who prescribed your treatment.
