Std risk

hi doctor.

I recently had a sexual encounter with a CSW.

1. Unprotected cunnilingus. Lighting was poor and I did not notice an ulcers and no blood.

2. Protected (condom) vaginal sex - brief penetration.
I am sure the condom did not break ( as I understand that if it does it is obvious).

This is my first encounter of this sort. I do have a monogamous relationship over 4 years.

What kind of std risk does this pose?

It has only been 4 days since. And the doctor said that I should come back in a week to be tested.

I would appreciate your advice.

no reason for any medications from this.

It's always in your  best interests to avoid antibiotics unless you have a documented infection. valtrex doesn't help reduce the risk of herpes infection so no reason for that either.

I think overall I am not very concerned due to the nature of the encounter. I might be over reacting.

Of course i need to be cautious. Based on what I have gathered on this forum. Protected vaginal sex (brief). And cunnilingus unprotected it is unlikely to have transmitted an std in a single encounter.

I will get tested in a day or two.

To be on the safer side. Do you recommend that I take preventively medication such as zanthrax and valtrax?

If you are really concerned that you contracted a std from this partner, you should abstain from sexual activity with your regular partner.

you can get orally tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia after 1 week post encounter.

We don't have commercially available hpv testing to cover that base. Genital herpes testing would be 3 months post encounter if you really want to cover that base too.

Thanks Grace. Much appreciated.

Just a few follow up questions that can help clarify.

I will look to get an oral swab. How soon after the encounter can I get tested. It has been 4 days.

Also. What is the risk of oral to me? And my girlfriend.
Are there any "dos" and "donts" between now and the time I get tested and (if needed) any treatment?

Again, thanks in advance. And allow me to express what a wonderful role medhelp plays in all aspects of health. Great job!!

This is not the doctor's forum.

Since you performed oral on this partner, make sure that if you are going to get std testing, you get swabbed orally too.

You had protected sex. You really don't need any std testing done from this encounter. Hpv and herpes were your only real risks genitally and the risk of either from a one time protected encounter is too low to bother testing from.
