Sufficient treatment?

I was recently found to have early latent syphilis, with a titer reading of 1:32. It was then calculated that I have been infected for over one year, but less than 3 years.

I was given a 2 week course of antibiotics (doxycycline 100mg) and told this would be sufficient, and that no lumber puncture was necessary.

I finished the treatment 3 weeks ago now, and have already gone to have a check-up blood test. This showed no alteration in the titer reading.

However I have read some of the cases in this forum and it seems that many people with lower titer reading have 3 weeks intensive treatments.

If titer level may take 3 months to drop, surely it is better to be safe than sorry with treatment and undergo an intensive one? I feel as though my treatment may not have been sufficient or strong enough and that I am now wasting precious time by doing nothing.

My question is,

-Is a lumber puncture necessary?
-Was this sufficient treatment?
-How quickly could my titer level drop to say 1:2? (a prospective employer is requested that i submit a 1:2 VDRL)

1) No...if you had long term exposure with syphilis then yes, but less then 3 years...no way.
2) Should be, but can't say for certain.
3) Don't know, it can differ for people but 3 month mark sounds about right.
