Swollen Meatus (like lips) that won't go away

Doctors,
Please help. My issue is exactly like the issue at this MedHelp thread:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/Persistent-Inflamed--Irritated-Meatus/show/1217614

Commonalities amongst us suffererers seems to be being receivers of unprotected oral sex, initial symptoms of pinching pain and itchiness at tip of meatus/urethra, negative STD tests (except for HPV which would require biopsy), and then partially swollen meatus (like lips) that never completely go away.

The meatus "lips" will vary in size and irritation depending on friction experienced (sex, masturbation, clothing, etc) and are more sensitive than surrounding skin. For me it causes premature ejaculation.

My urologist from visual inspection is confident these are not HPV but just irritation. Has much experience with HPV and says the "lips" would not be symmetrical (ie, would not be similar swelling on both sides of meatus). In my case the swelling is around the bottom half of the meatus, forming like a "u". I do however have scrotal HPV lesions and am receiving cryo treatments from a dermatologist. Dermatologist was not confident about cause of meatal lips and encouraged me to pursue with the urologist. Urologist knowe I have scrotal HPV and is still confident is not HPV.

I use hypo-allergenic, soaps, detergents and NO dryer static sheets. General irritation causing this is unlikely. especially given it began right after the un protected oral sex.

I've had this since September. The remaining symptoms now are the "lips", their extra sensitivity to friction and the accompanying mild feeling that I can feel them there so to speak due to the sensitivity. No more pinching pain and nagging itchiness.

Has your condition improved?  Has anyone give you a diagnosis?

Looking around on this board (and the Herpes board sometimes) it seems like many more men are asking about this condition lately and everyone's doctor seems confounded...  I had receptive oral from a female escort (of Chinese origin) in early October and have had sometimes swollen and often times irritated urethral opening and no one seems to have any idea how to help.  I've gone to 21 Dermatologists and a Urologist and no one sees anything wrong. Please let me know if you've heard anything.

I read that thread you reference extensively cause I was having a similar issue. I also posted here out of STD concerns.

I had unprotected oral but no symptoms for two weeks until I panicked and did a self chlamydia test which was a penal swab. 3 days later I started getting an itchy urethra and meatus swelling. It's been over a month and it's mostly better though I can feel the itch sometimes.

Did you happen to get swabbed? It's probably totally different but I was concerned enough to read through that entire thread. I will say not everyone in that thread had unprotected oral but many did but not all. Just curious what other commonalities there may be.

Another commonality amongst sufferers of this: we have all been prescribed all forms of antibiotics; zithro,  Cipro, Doxycycline,  etc.  No effect on swelling.

I'm sorry to hear that you (and others) are having these troubles despite evaluation by multiple health care providers.  You have done the right thing so seek evaluation.  I have little to offer to the information that you have already obtained.  While HPV is widespread and quite common, I am not aware of HPV ever causing a change in sensation for persons with the infection and if you (or others) have HPV my suspicion is that it is unrelated to your meatal swelling.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. EWH

Some more commonalities amongst us sufferers:
* Dermatologists and Urologists are uniformly confounded by the swellings. Resolving they are irritations only and sending us on our way with topical prescriptions.
* all topical Corticosteroids and anti fungals result ineffective.
* Oral anti fungals like fluconazole ineffective.

This is why I am here in the STD forum. Indirectly these confounded specialists directed us here with no where else to go. I keep going back to HPV since that is the one test very few of us sufferers have received given it would require a very sensitive/painful biopsy of the meatus.

Many of us think we suffer from a yet unknown STD pathogen whether it be viral or bacterial. If you Google swollen meatus you will get an idea of how many of us there are with this issue. Many sufferers have the swollen lips for years after other symptoms have abated.

If these Meatal swellings were HPV would they vary in size and irritation from friction?  Would they pinch and itch?
