Syph/Gon/Chlam/Herpes how long does it take for a positive test?

by daniel90, Jul 17, 2008 01:34AM
If you think you may be infected with one of these STDs how long does it take for a test to show you actually have them? I've shown no symptoms of anything 18 days after contact, but I know that sometimes stds are asymptomatic. I'm just wondering how long I should wait to get tested for them - I know HIV is at 6 weeks.
Also, which of these diseases would have probably shown symptoms after 18 days? thank you all so much for answering.

some of the std's you can get tested for after a week. Syphilis I believe is a month or 6 weeks ( look for other posts by auntiejessi on this - she's better at syphilis than I am ).  Hiv and hsv is 3 months.  there is not a commercially available test for hpv in males.

If you feel that you are having symptoms of a std or a partner of yours has been diagnosed with one - see your provider now and start covering the bases.
