No, they would not change. EWH
Would your answers change if I said the lesion appeared between 8 and
9 days instead of 7, and the lesion is getting flatter?
Internet sites say, syphillis can occur between 9 through 90 days?
Welcome to the Forum. I find myself wondering why you started asking the question as though it wasn't about you?
The lesion you describe has all the characteristics of folliculitis. Folliculitis occurs when the pores in your skin get plugged. This allows that normal bacteria that are present on just about everyone's skin to grow and cause what is essentially a pimple. Some of these just appear as red bumps which may or may not be tender while others go on to actually form pimples. Squeezing folliculitis lesions does not always solve the problem and can make it worse as seems to have occurred here. Most folliculitis will go away with regular washing using a wash cloth or loofah sponge although on occasion it may need some antibiotics.
The lesion you describe does not sound like syphilis. It appeared too early (syphilis lesions appear, on average, about 21 days after an exposure), was not painless as is typical of syphilis, and did not evolve into an open sore which is also typical of syphilis. Further, in NY at present, over 60% of syphilis occurs in men who have sex with other men, not heterosexuals.
I suspect this is unrelated to the sexual encounter you describe. Given that it has gotten large and painful (not typical of syphilis), you may want to have your doctor take a look and consider antibiotics but I would not be particularly worried about syphilis.
I hope this comment is helpful. EWH
Sorry for multiple posts, the occurrence was 02/413 the lump appeared 0n the 12th 8 days post exposure.
I may add, that the lesion is subsiding its still a red and a lump but in a few days could become flat but it is red and seems infected on surrounding area. Could this be ingrown hair that's infected or syphillis.
