TRICH TRANSMISSION

by confused 2007, Apr 13, 2007 12:00AM
Approximately 2 weeks ago I had symptoms of what I believed to be a yeast infection(first one in 9 years plus, my family physician prescribed diflucan(2 pills) and that resulted in no change. He then prescribed Flagyl for a week.  By the way, all of this was done with no examination.  I consulted a new doctor(gyn) yesterday and was told that I have Trich.  I have been married for 8 years and had no other sexual partners. I asked several questions to the doctor concerning dormancy, etc., not wanting to believe that my husband had been unfaithful.  She stated the only way I could have been infected was sexually and it would have been recently, not something that could have lay dormant for over 8 years.  Of course, my husband completely denies having an affair and seems to be genuine; however, I do not want to be nieve, but do want to research all avenues of possibilities before laying my foot down and falsly accusing him. I have searched the CDC and other web sites to see if the only way I could have caught this was as the doctor said.  Maybe I am searching for something that isn't there.  My question is:  Can Trich lie dormant for many years in a male or female and is it possible to find catch this STD any way other than sex (public toilet, etc.)

Did your test actually come out + for trich?  Or was he just assuming you had it b/c of symptoms?  I know flagyl is used to treat bacterial vaginosis (which is not and std) too.
