Taking doxycycline AND azithromycin

Hello! Yesterday, a doctor told me that I had Chlamidya. I did not believe that diagnosis because I dont have any symptoms. I went to an STD clinic today to get an overall STD checkup and was told that I hve Cervicitis. The doctor gave me two pills which were zithromax and told me that that would be sufficient to cure both infections. I don't feel that taking two pills would be enough. How well does this treatment work? Now, I have a prescription for Doxycycline. Is there a problem if I take that also? Does it build resistance to infection for future times? Or should I just leave well enough alone. I just want to make sure that I get rid of the infections. Thanks!

50% of women with chlamydia have no symptoms, so that's no reason to not believe your diagnosis.  Chlamydia can cause cervicitis, so almost definitely that's what you have going on.

As to the antibiotics,  1g of Zithromax is a very effective treatment (if that is the dosage you have).  More, like 2g, would be even better.  There should be no reason to need to take the doxycycline at the same time.

The best bet is to take your zithromax and then be retested later to be sure you're rid of the chlamydia.  You should wait at least a couple weeks after taking your antibiotics for a more accurate result.  And don't have unprotected sex in the meantime!
