Test or not to test?

by Unsure123, Oct 13, 2006 12:00AM
Dr.,
I had brief protected anal sex with a woman pro.  She then removed the condom and put a new one on me and performed oral.  Finally she removed that and used her hand until I ejaculated.  Two weeks later I now find a slight tingle in the head of my penis.  There is no discharge, rash or bumps.  Should I be tested for anything?  My concern is when she removed the condom and replaced it her hand would have been in contact with fluids which could have then come in contact with my penis.  Thank you for your time.

You couldn't have acquired an STD from those exposures.  No STD can be transmitted through a condom and hand-to-genital exposure is entirely risk-free.  You're "concern" is far-fetched and unrealistic.  Finally, no STD causes a "slight tingle" as the only symptom.  But it a common symptom of genitally-focused anxiety.

You do not need testing unless you are otherwise at risk.  People who are sexually active outside committed, monogamous relationships ought to be tested for HIV and other STDs from time to time, like every year or two, depending on the frequency of contact and number of partners.  If you have otherwise been sexually active and not tested recently, this might be a good time, since it's on your mind.  But this has nothing to do with the event you describe.

No you don't need to test for that particular incident.  You had safe sex. However, if your having sex outside of a committed monogomous relationship, it is a good idea to screen for stds yearly.

Is it possible the agressive use of the hand to mastrabate me could have injured the penis causing slight pain or a tingle sensation?  Thanks.

Well yes. If she was vigorous while she was giving you a hand job, I can imagine it could be irritating and even hurt a little.  But there is no chance of transmitting an std from hand to genitals.

But the "tingle" from the hand job wouldn't be irritated 2 weeks later.  I think your just nervous about this situation, (maybe because she was a pro.)  W/the absence of discharge, rash, or bumps, it's highly unlikely you caught anything especially w/the use of a condom.
