Testing for gonorrhea

by concerned350, Mar 21, 2008 03:22AM
I have a question, if a person gets a general gonorrhea test (for example a urine test), will that pick up gonorrhea if the infection is in the mouth (even if the person has no symptoms and doesn't think they're at risk for gonorrhea of the mouth)?

I believe I just answered you the other day.   The answer was...no.  If you have gonorrhea in your genitals, you need a swab or urine test for that.

If it's in your mouth, you need a SEPARATE swab for that.  Because you don't urinate out of your mouth.

A urine test will not pick up something that's in your throat.
