The worst 2 weeks of my life have ended.

A few months ago, out of curiosity, I went to a male sw who gave me oral sex which I thought was completely risk free.  I was in hospital with an unrelated complaint when they did a pap smear to rule out the possibility of an STD.
If the smear had come back positive for any STD there is no way that I could have kept it from my wife of 38 years.  It would have utterly destroyed her.  I have spent 2 weeks dreading the arrival of the morning post and cringing every time the telephone rang, not knowing how the information would have been related to me.

Today I went to my Doctor and he confirmed that the results of the pap smear showed negative on all STDs.
I can now relate to the desperate people who post on this forum seeking reassurance.

I learnt a lot about STDs during those 2 weeks and I will do my best to answer questions in posts.  I realize that I am one of the lucky ones and the relief is enormous.

Yes I meant urethra swab.  As I had no symptoms, I was mainly worried about Gonnohrea and Chlamydia which sometimes are asymptomatic.
The Dr specifically stated that the results were negative for both those STDs.
As I know that HIV cannot be transmitted by oral sex, and for any other STDs I would have had symptoms, I feel that I am out of the woods now.

women get pap smears, not men.

if you had a swab inside your urethra as a test for std's, you only had partial testing done. just so you know that.

honestly though no reason for any testing when you only received oral sex and haven't had any symptoms.  don't let your guilt override the risk of the encounter.
