Trich, prostate problem or other?

I am 29 year old male. Had a relationship with a girl last year from March - September in which unprotected sex was had on multiple occasions. Had no problems what-so-ever but around December 2013 I started having a slight burning/irritation inside my penis. I went to doctor, he tested me for chlamydia and gon. Test results came back negative. The discomfort disappeared and I carried on with life. Around April 2014 I got a case of jock itch and thrush. My scrotum went bright red and felt as though it was on fire. I successfully treated this with over the counter cream.

In June 2014 the burning/discomfort came back. I went to doc again and he tested me for chlamydia, gon, trich, HIV, urethritis and hep. I also noted to him that the meatus was inflamed (I'm uncircumcised) and he said it did look a bit irritated. I did notice some cloudy/watery discharge before this doc visit. All tests came back negative. He prescribed me 1000mg of doxycycline. I felt like the doxy did help, I didn't have any discomfort until 3 weeks after taking the doxy. This continued for another few months until I went back to him and had all tests repeated in September 2014. Again, all tests came back negative and he told me that the discomfort was in my head as I am experiencing a fair amount of anxiety over this issue and I experience no pain during urination.

Symptoms are:

Random pinching/sting pain just below head of penis. This happens 1/2 times a day.

NO pain during urination.

Slight burning/irritation/discomfort in my penis most of the time. Some days it does not exist all day.

Inflamed meatus

My questions are:

1. Could I have trich despite testing negative for it twice?

2. If I did have trich, would it should up as bacteria present and give positive result for the urethritis test?

3. Could this be a prostate issue? I have not have prostate checked.

4. I consume a lot of beer and energy drinks and have a poor diet. Could this be contributing?

I'm sure my meatus is inflamed. It is bright red while the rest of the glans are grey in colour. The doc said it looked "quite normal" but I know what my meatus looks like. In saying that, I'm not quite sure what normal is anymore because this has been going on for so long. I cannot be imagining this pain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your reply, Vance.

Do my symptoms sound trich like? I believe the inflamed meatus is a positive sign for trich.

It is a difficult test for men to get an accurate result. Normally it is diagnosed based on symptoms and other negative tests.

Thanks for the reply. Everything I read online tells me there is no reliable testing for trich in men.

Is this entirely accurate?
