Trying for some Resolution and Peace of Mind

This is a continued coversation from previous post. To summarize: Had protected sex for at most a minute with stripper and there were some concerns of her vaginal fluids rubbing from the condom she provided to my underwear and then on to me because the codomn wasnt taken off immediately. I waited until I got back to the bathroom. 14 days after got a red irritated area(like a circle that covered the head and underneath the head under the foreskin) that looked like dry skin that cracked, peeled off and burned! Lasted for about 3 weeks. Exactly 2 months later the same are became red and infected. This time much worse. Skin cracked and peeled off except this time it had green and white snot like mucas all on it when i peeld the skin back from the head. Went to a Ureologist who looked at it and said it was nothing more than a skin infection. He used the word staph aand mrsa. Ive never heard of that happening there and i asked why it returned in the same spot and he said it happens. He gave me Clyndamicyn and it helped and it was 6 weeks ago. Yet the area is still pink and somewhat sensitive (not bad though) I never saw anything that looked like blisters etc etc. But when I would clean it there would yellow and green ****...Like the **** you get in the corner of your eyes when you wake up.  He said there could be some scarring. Im TERRIFIED this will return and that he is not correct on his "observation" since he took no real sample or test. He said HSV 2 wasnt a real concern from what I told him and it didnt look like HSV. Should I go for a second opinion from someone else? I would assume in his profession he has seen a lot of this but its been a hell of 3 months and I need some peace! Your information was helpfull before and sometimes this easier to get a perspective because you cant always get an appt everytime you have a question. So this forum is EXTREMELY useful.

I can't find any other questions from you on this forum, but saw the ones you posted on the herpes and dermatology forums.  If I missed another thread on this forum, please provide the details and I'll look it up.

I agree with the opinions and advice you received from Ms. Warren and Dr. Rockoff.  You had a virtually no-risk sexual exposure with respect to herpes; your symptoms don't sound like herpes, which does not cause the sorts of penile rash you describe even when the same problem appears to recur; and you saw an experienced health care provider who even on direct examination did not think herpes was likely.  The symptoms and exposure also don't suggest any other STD and I doubt this has anything to do with the sexual exposure with the stripper, just a coincidence.

Next steps?  You could see a dermatologist, who likely will be more expert in this area than a urologist.  If a dermatologist thinks there is any possibility of herpes, you could have a blood test for HSV-2 to make sure.  But in the meantime, you really should put herpes and other STDs out of your mind.

I meant to add that I agree with what the urologist told you about staph, including methicillin resistant versions (MRSA).  The apparent response to clindamycin supports that explanation.  What is it that is so mysterious or stressful for you in this explanation?

Thanks for the quick response. I tried to summarize the previous post so you wouldnt have to search for it. Heres the link http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Mistake-with-a-Stripper/show/945603

I guess why I am having such difficulty with this whole situation is the timing. I know the statistics and probability of something occuring. However all of it seems really strange to be just a coincidence. When you read about HSV websites say they take on so many different characteristics and that no one can diagnose them by site. This dr took no sample and was confident is was a basic bacterial skin infection (staph) Ive just never heard of that getting there before. Ive never had it before until this incident so I am just assumming the two things MUST go together. Ive always been paranoid about STD and thats why I have had a total of 4 partners in my entire life (including this one) and Im 34. I just am fearing it will return. Is it possible to have a hsv outbreak and the outbreak area itself get infected with staph?

Im supposed to return to the DR on Sept 15 for my check up. Hes been treating me for Prostatitis this whole time. Could that have anything to do with skin infections?

I really want to believe that Im ok and that this is exactly what the dr has told me and that the medicine will clear it up and not return. I guess I just dont understand HSV as well as I though I did.......and I think Ive read every informational page avaiable on the net.
Any of your expert advice could help me in this area.

The timing is meaningless.  Just think about it.  Let's say a million Americans gets a new staph skin infection (MRSA or not) a week.  And let's say each week there are a million new sexual encounters that might be considered risky.  I don't know if these numbers are right, but you get the idea:  There have to be lots and lots of people who experience new staph within a couple weeks of a new sexual encounter.   You're just one of those people.

And look at it another way:  During the 2 week period after your sexual exposure, you undoubtedly had many other contacts with other people, whether at work, among friend, sales clerks, etc etc.  Your mind is focusing on the single somewhat unuwual event in your life, whereas the day-to-day usual contacts almost always are the sources of common skin infections.

Truly, this is only a coincidence.  Dont worry about it.  Take care and stay safe.

That will have to end this thread.  Also, since you have posted twice recently, I need to remind you of the MedHelp policty stated in Terms and Conditions:  No more than 2 questions every 6 months in the professionally moderated forums.

I know you told me to end the thread but I wanted to ask you a couple of questions before I go through with the biopsy that my Ureologist is wanting to do.
This rash returned on Sept 9 and I saw him on the 10th. He gave me a steroid cream(Nysyatin) and some different antiobiotics (Doxycycline) I took it for a week and it slowly got better. Same symptoms: It got red, looked like dry skin and then burned and itched almost looked like it was scolded. VERY SENSITIVE. Of course this time there was no puss or anything like that. It was actually very dry. He has scheduled me for a biopsy and a scope of my uretha. This seems pretty severe seeing he hasnt even given me a blood test. I again asked him if this is any way sort possibly as a function of any STD and he continues to say NO. But I figured he would take a blood test to set some baseline ya know?
My question for you is:
1. If I came into your office would you recomend a biopsy for this before a blood test?
2. Should i get a second opinion before this procedure? It seems a little extreme
3. Ive read on the internet where HSV2 causes Balanitis. Is this true?
4. At this point would a Dermatologist be better to go to then do this procedure.

im really freaked out about doing this.

If I were you, I would get a second opinion from a dermatologist.

Herpes does not cause the sort of balanitis you describe.
