UTI AND likely chlamydia/gonorrea, on doxycyclin- in pain need answers and HELP please!!

So Tuesday morning I wake up and it burns when I pee. It basically kind of burns, and maybe itches a bit, all day. Well I had recently (like 2-3 days before) engaged in sexual activity, once with a lubed condom; I've gotten BV from spermacides and lubes before and assumed that may be it but that I'd wait due to money issues, plus that it was mild compared to before. Well I decided to go in Thursday to urgent care and he tested me for UTI - positive based on urine sample. That's all he tested for and then gave me Bactrim.

However I did not have peace of mind as with every bad encounter with lubed or whatever, I've gotten BV (this has happened twice - I haven't been sexually active long or often, or with many partners even - I'm very sensative). So on Saturday I decided to go into another place. Well that morning I woke up and had some weird, yellow-green dried discharge on my lower vulva. Now I had been a bit "dischagre'y" in those last couple days but dismissed it because I always have, that's just how my body is. I dismissed this as from the UTI (never had one, was kidn of clueless about what should and shouldn't be there). But I go in thinking I may have a yeast infection or BV. The woman takes a sample and tells me my cervix looked irritated (though when she touched it I couldn't feel it) and she saw a lot fo discharge. She looked at it under a microscope and came back saying there were all these white blood cells and it looked like chlamydia. :( I was devestated - first I had never had a UTI and I have never had an STD. I just felt so confused I guess. Plus I've been told I always show up many white blood cells. In fact when I got tested (which was once in March and another time I believe in April because I got a yeats infection from a synthetic substance) the guy seemed to expect to see a positive result for chlamydia/gon come back. But that and the one after came back negative. However I DO believe I have it this time. I took my sample to a lab to be sure and will get results Tuesday.

At any rate, she gave me a single anti-biotic for the possible gonorrea and then perscribed me doxycyclin, 1 twice a day for 10 days. She also perscribed me Diflucin for the yeast infection I KNOW I'm gonna get. :(

But it was only after the wet-prep that the symptoms got real bad and I've been feeling pain in my abdomon/pelvic region and excruciating, albeit brief, pain right as I finish peeing (it was mild before). Plus the pain in my urethera entrance area in between peeing got worse too.

I need some answers and insight if anybody can give, please. For one thing I'm not clear about the symptoms. It's described as the "silent disease" or whatever 'cause the symptoms are supposedly mild - as compared to what, a bullet to the head and crotch?! Maybe it's just because I never had a UTI, I don't know. :( Anyway...

1). I thought that a UTI, not chlamydia, will make you feel as if you need to pee and only a little comes out. Mind you it's not "pressure" but just feels like it's wanting to come out. Is this typical of chlamydia? Or is it possible that either a) the Bactrim didn't work or b) the STD hindered the antibiotic or just brought on a UTI again?

2) This pain that I've had for two days now, in my pelvic/abdomon and how it has this shooting hurt as my urine stream stops (not to mention in between peeing where what seems to be the discharge hurts the pee-hole area, plus some itchiness)? Not to mention a bit of blood coming when I pee and the funky discharge. How long does it generally take to feel relief of symptoms on oxycylin?

3) Is that typical of chlamydia?

4). Is there anything I can do to sooth the pain, to stop it even?

5). The incubation period for chlamydia says 7 days to about a month, also that symptoms may/may not show up right away. However my UTI symptoms started Tuesday and the recent sexual activity was 2-3 days before that. Now before then, my last sexual activity was like 3-4 before. So even if the symptoms didn't start until all those weeks later (when I got yeast/BV it only woudl take two days) then why would my UTI just SUDDENLY show up? Would the UTI trigger the other infections? Or is it possible that as special as I am, the chlamydia came early?

6) What is the success rate for oxycyclin?

Please help. I can't work, I can't sleep - I need to take a bunch of Xanax (I'm perscribed it, as well as Walbutrin for depression) to sleep due to worrying. :-(

Hi how did everything turn out for you? Did the UTI and chlamydia finally go away with all the treatment? And did u really have yeast infection from the doxy?

Okay so the guy I was sexual with told me he woke up this morning (Sunday) with the discharge issue I did Saturday morning. He went in and they took a look, said it was probably chlamydia but will get the test back Friday. :( So yeah...

Neither of us are angry at each other, in fact we were joking a bit a bit. He's a close friend for I'm fortunate.

But again there has been some pain as I finished peeing, mostly mild when there (mostly) and some burning in between. Plus I think I may be starting a yeast infection. However I'm very confused and some questions...

1).My UTI symptoms started the morning 2-3 days after intercourse with him and the chlamydia symptoms 4 days after that (that's 7-8 days). Yet his started the morning after mine. Now supposing he got it from me and it had been just sitting there in me this whole time, why would my UTI have waited? And since he got symptoms after then would this be an example fo them showing up on a guy later? Or if he gave it to me, wouldn't that be too long for it to wait?! I'm sorry, I'm just so confused here. Maybe it's unecessary.

2). As far as days intot he medication, how many will go by before I should feel relief of symptoms? 4-5? 78? Do they generally persist until after they've been finished?

3). If I still have a UTI, either because the Bactrim wasn't enough for whatever reason or the chalmydia reignited it, would the Doxycyclin kill it?

4). I have 2 Diflucin. Should I take one tomorrow and then take the other after the antibiotics are all taken? Or should I just wait to be sure the likely yeast infection is gone or if I need more antibiotics?

I'm sorry, just so bewildered still. :(

The only tests I took were Thursday for the UTI (urine test that came out positive), then Saturday when she took the wet-prep. She said she saw a lot of discharge, that my cervix looked irritated (but it felt completely fine, no pain) and said under the microscope I had a lot of white blood cells. However since the gyno always says I have a lot of wite blood cells (and I guess some people do) and even the STD test guy I saw in March saw them to and expected my tests to came back positive for chlamydia or something, and they didn't, I opted to take the sample to the lab. I'm supposed to have the results for sure Tuesday (I think she may be right though, but what do I know?).

However I am thinking of going in that day and getting another UTI test just in case. Why, would that not show accurate results at that time? I finished my Bactrim last night.

I'm also pretty sure I'm getting/will be getting a yeast infection from the anti-biotics. However I have 2 Diflucan for that.

Did you test again after taking the meds?  If you did, your results might not be accurate.

I agree with the others on the rest.

Thank you so much. I'm just so frustrated. I don't have insurance, I had to miss work yesterday, the urgent care place is expensive, and the other one doesn't open again until Tuesday (the day I call there to get my results). I just don't know what move to make, how to look at anything, what to base anything off of. Never had a UTI, never had an STD. And I HATE waiting.

But anyway, an update: I make that post at my dad's last night, 11-12 at night. I get to my ma's and pee ... it hardly hurts. Then after that there is no burning in between for like the rest of the night. Little to none of that pelvic/abdominal pain. So I'm cautiously happy but I DIDN'T want to jinx it. I wake up this morning and still no burning and no pelvic abdominal pain. I pee, still none. Still none after that. I'm pretty relieved but hesitant and not wanting to jinx it. So I get to get in the shower and pee first ... at the end there is a LITTLE bit of that burning. Just a bit. Still no burning in between and yes, there was some blood. But still there was a huge improvement. I hope it'll last. :(

Now I should note that last night was my last Bactrim pill. It was also my fourth Doxycyclin (of 20). So either the UTI is long gone and Doxycyclin is kicking in, the last Bactrim pretty much did the job and the symptoms are going to be gone soon, I still have a UTI and the Bactrim wasn't enough though it helped (I may need more, etc.), or I have something else up with my urethra.

I should note something about the discharge. When the nurse practitioner did the wet-prep and took the sample from my vagina/cervix, she just said she saw "a lot" of discharge - not that it was funny or anything. So I'm not sure if the discharge I woke up with was from my urethra or vagina. I should also note that she said my cervix may bleed due to the grabby -thingy but that was two days ago. It didn't seem that the blood was in my urine as I saw it drip out after but I may just have not seen it in the urine. I must also note that the one who diagnosed me with the UTI said I had blood in my urine.

I have been drinking nothing but cranberry juice and water and will continue the Doxycylin. However did anything I posted above ring a bell or "click" for anybody? Any insight would help. :( Please.

UTI's can be very painful, lower abdominal pain, fever, urge to urinate all the time and piercing pain during urination as well as droplets of blood in the urine and strong smell are all classic signs of a UTI although the discharge is not typical .... If you do have Chlamydia Doxycyclin will fix that.
I agree with Emma drink lots of water or Cranberry both are excellent for "flushing" out bacteria in the Urinary Tract drinking lots will help with the discomfort a UTI causes when urinating.

1.  This seems like a typical symptom of a UTI - I'm not sure if this is typical for chlamydia.  Either way, if you had chlamydia, the doxy should clear it up.  If you finish the doxy and the Bactrim for your UTI and your symptoms do not go away, you need to go back to the doctor to find out what's going on.

2.  You should start to feel relief from the doxy before the end of your treatment.  If you finish the medication and are still having symptoms, you need to go back to the doctor for evaluation.

3.  Even though unusual discharge is a symptom of chlamydia, I don't think blood in the urine is (but it could be a symptom of UTI).  The fact that you seem to have discharge from your urethra might mean you have a urethral infection.  You might need a different treatment for your UTI.

4.  Try drinking cranberry juice - it might help the UTI.  But getting proper treatment is key.

5.  I would just wait for your test results instead of trying to figure all of this out.  From what you said, you definitely have a UTI which needs to be treated.  Wait until Tuesday to find out if you do have chlamydia.

6.  If you do have chlamydia, doxycyclin should clear it up.

Good luck,
Em
