Undiscovered STDs

by DifferentPerspective, Nov 09, 2008 02:54AM
Does most health care professionals believe that are more sexually transmitted diseases that have man has actually documented?
The reason I ask is because I have seen a best friend's health diminish before my eyes after having unprotected sex but once.  A month after his episode he developed what was first believed as strep throat. So he went to his physician who was easy to prescribe antibiotics. In this case the antibiotic, Amoxicillin did nothing for him. So he was prescribed it again and yes again until his doctor changed antibiotics and after a long 2 months the symptoms seemed to fade. He had lost weight, noticed he lost his complexion, felt symptoms of low testosterone, and became depressed. He described himself as feeling diseased. He had not totally recovered from his illness. After a year from the incident he got himself tested for everything known to man and came back totally clean. His doctor said everything was in his head and he was perfectly healthy other than having low testosterone. Well if she had known my friend before she would see that his skin had lost most of its shine and color, his eyes were often red and dry, sometimes a bit yellow, his face looked thin and and aged, he had chronic nasal congestion, post nasal drip, loss of muscle, inability to gain weight, cystic like acne on the jawline, slow healing, allergic rashes on the inside of arms that come and go, bad back acne with a few nodule type lesions on his back that are raised and do not go away. I mean that does not sound healthy to me!

My friend is only 19 years of age, eats very healthy, exercises, and goes to college full time and is devastated by his declining health. I want to help but I am not nearly experienced enough to find the truth.

Any suggestions on possible acquired infections?

Please help.

I don't know about undiscovered stds, but research isn't my forte.

You said his eyes are sometimes yellow - has anyone done any liver testing?  Hepatitis B testing?

Please have your friend outline all the tests he had run. No Doctor will test for "everything known to man". If you will be more specific , then I would love to comment. Take care.
