Stupidly i gave a guy brief 5 minute fellatio in London, UK. He did not *** in my mouth. I immediately went to see a sexualCauses of sexual dysfunction Erection problems Female sexual dysfunction Sexual problems overview health clininc and received antibiotics as i feared i may have chlamydia or gonorrea. I plan to go back in 4 weeks to get a full health check up. Specifically you can get a 1 month HIV test which is pretty accurate but they recommend coming back after 3 months.
Could you confirm
1) In terms of other STDs, I think Hep B,C is low to non-existent from this activity.
2) Syphillis/ HPV seem possible but you should know within 2-3 weeks from symptoms in the mouth is my understanding.
Would you take the view that 1 month is long enough to test for most things (e.g. i understand syphillis is 6 weeks - but you should show symptoms after 2-3 weeks).
2 - Oral hpv is rare, so forget about that one. Syphilis is also uncommon, but possible. You can get symptoms as early as a couple of weeks, but it can take longer.
Thank you very much. I plan to wait for the 4 weeks. At this point syphillis should be apparent from the symptoms (there only 2500 cases a year in the uk so pretty unlikely anyhow) and the herpes symptoms (even though you said its rare orally) should also be apparent. Hep B i will get tested just for peace of mind and 4 weeks should be long enough incubation time also from what i read. HIV after 4 weeks also should be pretty conclusive. So i will breathe a sigh of relief after 4 weeks and then maybe get tested after 2-3 months for HIV and syphillis (ie not by lack of symptoms but actually a blood test).
one week after this episode i find myself having a semi sore throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture (just the need to swallow a lot like you'd get with a cold or flu with a mucus feeling at the back of the throat). also have a slight sore on my cheek.
1) is this anything to worry about? from what you've said syphilis would be the main worry?
2) is the test at 4 weeks long enough to pick up syphillis? the literature i've seen on the web suggests 6 weeks?
3) would you know if you had syphilis from the symptoms? there seems to be some confusion - one forum you'd know if you had it, some others say it can be quite mild symptoms which people dismiss as something else.
4) there are 3000 cases of syphilis in the uk/ yr - would you categorise this as a low risk disease at this point?
5) the HIV risk seems to be low but possible from this behaviour, although i had bit my inside of my lip 3-4 hours earlier in the day which was not bleeding though i could feel it was a bit rough?

Syphilis would give you a sore. This sounds like allergies, but see your doctor if you are concerned.

6 weeks is probably better.
3) would you know if you had syphilis from the symptoms? there seems to be some confusion - one forum you'd know if you had it, some others say it can be quite mild symptoms which people dismiss as something else.
You would have a painless sore. Yes, I suppose that could be easily missed.
4) there are 3000 cases of syphilis in the uk/ yr - would you categorise this as a low risk disease at this point?
Yes, I would, especially if you didn't see a sore on his penis.
5) the HIV risk seems to be low but possible from this behaviour, although i had bit my inside of my lip 3-4 hours earlier in the day which was not bleeding though i could feel it was a bit rough?
HIV is VERY low risk. Even though you had bitten your lip, its not something I would worry about. Test if you feel the need to, but its not something to stress over.
You seem to be entering the panic phase (read here a bit - you aren't the only one) and the anxiety isn't based on science, but fear. 5 min of oral sex isn't something I'd worry about. See your doctor if you don't typically have allergy symptoms, and relax. :)
3 weeks in, 1 week to go the test. Results for hiv are on the day. The clinic actually says syphilis can be tested at 4 weeks (somewhat vague 4-6 weeks guidance is on the internet).
I know you shouldn't self diagnose but i have had
a) a phlegm at the back of the throat which seems to make it necessary for me to swallow every now and again - much more common than often than it should be. my opinion is that this is probably nothing and reflects just an increased mental sensitivity to the area and as a result i am swallowing more often and creating this myself. but would like to hear you views on this. it doesn't seem a sore throat is an std symptom to look out for - especially since i've had antibiotics which should have killed chlamydia and gonorrea.
b) on my tongue there are just little irregularities - little bumps on the side of the tongue- nothing more than that. when i put my tongue out, it doesn't cut a straight line, more of a slightly irregular pattern. this is slightly upsetting i have to admit.
c) the outside of my mouth looks normal, which is where herpes symptoms (if at all) were to arise, this is where i should look.
i realise i am probably just self-diagnosing but i thought i would report these symptoms and get your thoughts on this.
A) Your symptoms sound like nothing at all. You can not get Chlamydia or should I say is very very rare in the throat. Gonnohrea should be cured, but this often goes away on it's own.
B) You could have bitten your tongue-I would not worry.
C) Sounds like you are clean
Self diagnosising is always the worst thing because we find something normal but blow it up which causes our mind to manifest it into something that it is not.
You had a very low risk exposure, I think your tests will come back fine.
just to let you know all the tests came back negative. i have to get thoroughly tested at 3 months but it seems very likely all is well. thanks for all your reassurance.
2 - Oral hpv is rare, so forget about that one. Syphilis is also uncommon, but possible. You can get symptoms as early as a couple of weeks, but it can take longer.
3 - You can have sex now. Since you performed oral, your infection would only be oral, and you wouldn't transmit anything by kissing. (Syphilis MIGHT be transmitted by kissing, but that's rare, if it happens at all.) You might avoid performing oral on your wife, but that's up to you.
I would be perfectly fine with 1 month test results.

If you haven't been vaccinated for hep b, you should talk to your doctor about it.
