Unprotected Oral Sex worries

HI MedHelp,

I am a 25yo male, received an unprotected oral sex from a sex worker.

She had no open sore or blood.
I had no open wound on my penis.
I had no pre-*** and no ejaculate.
Lasted for maybe 2-3 minutes.

I would like to ask:
1) What is the risk of me getting any STD?
2) When will symptoms occur?  And what are they? (just so I know when to see a doctor)

Thank you for the help.

The expsoures you describe do not put you at meaningful risk for oral STDs and the lesion you describe does not raise concern about cold sores or other oral STDs.

Cold sores are uncomfortable lesions wich start as small fluid filled blisters which then go on to rupture to form uncomfortable shallow ulcers.  Your white spots do not sound at all like a cold sore.  eWH

Hi Dr Edward Hook,

Thanks for the reply.  The encounter was on Jan 3.  Today, I see a small, white spot on the corner on my bottom lip.  Should I worry?  What should / will I see if it is a cold sore?  I have no problem with urination.

About me:
-The spot is not visible until I look close at a mirror and stretch my lip
-I have been suffering from acne on my chin and near my lip for two years, but rarely on the lip
-I had dry lips... perhaps the white spot was due to dryness?

About the encounter:
-Received unprotected oral sex as described in last post ( I did not perform any)
-Protected vaginal intercourse
-I sucked on her nipple; I did not see any sore on it...

Thank you for the help.

Welcome to our Forum.  This was a very low risk event.  You don't mention how long ago this exposure took place but it it was more than a month ago and you have not developed symptoms, the chance that you acquired any STD is miniscule.

Oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through receipt of oral sex; chlamydia aqnd HIV are not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) such as burning on urination or penile discharge within a few days (certainly less than a week) of your exposure.  Even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  In your case, your exposure was brief; I would urge you not to worry.   EWH

Hi,

I forgot to add that 2 months ago, I was tested negative for all STDs  (ie: HIV, HSV 1, HSV 2, Hep B, Hep C, syphilis, etc.)

I hope I will remain negative for as long as I can.
