Unprotected sex

I (stupidly) had unprotected sex about two weeks ago with a sex worker for about 5-10 minutes.  Subsequently I have been tested for everything but dont have results yet.  I felt some aching of my testicles in the week after as well as a headache but nothing on my penis and no discharges.  Today, two weeks later, I feel a mild burning sensation in my legs and arms and am very worried about this.  I'm taking doxycycline having started 3 days ago.  Could this be related to the anxiety I am feeling or is it likely to be more sinister? Thanks

the only std testing you had that was accurate at that time was your chlamydia and gonorrhea testing.   you need to wait 6 weeks post encounter for syphilis testing. 3 months for herpes and hiv testing.

why were you started on antibiotics?

the sensations in your arms are not std related.

Hey Jack -

Could be just anxiety.  Your symptoms don't seem like any STD's that I can think of.  Usually, herpes would show lesions after having flu like symptoms (i.e. fever and a headache).  HIV usually doesn't show itself until at least 3 weeks later with flu like symptoms of fever, rash, etc. (though this is not certain always)  The important thing is that you got yourself checked out and I'm sure results will come out soon.

I certainly understand where your coming from.  I would never consider sleeping with a sex worker without a condom (I usually think that sex workers who require condoms are more likely to not carry an STD), but have had similar anxiety over a slight slippage.  Don't stress too much.  I had so much anxiety that I was getting intense headaches, weird body sensations, and hair loss.  Stress can do weird things.
