Unusual scenario... Chlamydia/Gonorrhea

Hi,

I had a potential high risk exposure about 2 months ago. It was protected sex (condom) a little less than a week later I got conjuctavitis, this sparked some anxiety so I went to the doctor to get it checked out and to have STD screening. At day 16 after exposure I had a NAAT urine test and both chlamydia & gonorrhea came back negative. At week 4 after exposure I got tested for hep b, c and HIV and all came back negative. From there I thought I was in the clear although at week 8 exactly I started to get a pain in my left testicle and lower left abdomen. It was quite bad for a day so I went to the doctor and they said it was inflamed epididymis and put me on augmentin duo forte and doxycycline. So my question is if I tested negative for chlamydia/ Gonorrhea at day 16 but got symptoms at 8 weeks could it be that my results were false negative or could my epididymitis be due to something else? I find it to be a HUGE coincidence if it is. Can anyone shed some light on this?

it's very low risk that you actually have a std causing this as I already pretty much said in all my other replies.

I have certainly been concerned about it although i certainly havnt been touching them to aggrevate it. I suppose my question is what are the chances of me getting tested negative for chlamydia/gonorrhea at day 16 and then get a strong symptom of it at week 8. The day it started to come on and the couple of days following were quite painful although only on the left side. This is either complete coincidence or my NAAT test did not pick it up at day 16. What are the chances of this.

you won't have a std causing this now. I"m sure you also have been manipulating the heck out of your manly bits these last 2 months too haven't you?

no I do not at all. first off, we recommend protected sex because it works! 2nd of all, almost all conjunctivitis  is viral and has nothing to do with sex. You can get it from touching contaminated surfaces as well as just breathing within 3 feet of another person.

Hi Grace,

Don't you think this is a HUGE coincidence?

odds are your symptoms were not std related. there are non-std related causes for your infection.

no real reason to doubt your urine testing.
