Ureathra discomfort, pimple with white pus

by floored, Jun 11, 2007 12:00AM
I recieved unprotected oral sex from a girl 9 days ago.  We also had protected vaginal sex.  Some discomfort on in the tip and on the left side of the head the next day.  I went to a doctor on day two, and he perscribed as a precaution two different antibiotics taken two days in a row, four pills each.  There has been no discharge, though I am perhaps urinating more than usual.

The antibiotics did not really eleminate the discomfort, though it has changed.  At first it was more itching, and was more prevelant when I peed.  Now it is much more faint, and is almost a coolness.

I had masturbated with some hand lotion two days ago, and afterwards the penis was slightly irritated.  Last night I found a small pimple with a whitehead on the left side of the shaft.  I popped it, and this morning it seems to have gone away.  No scabbing or sore.  I haven't found other pimples on the penis.

I plan to have a full suite of tests done by Questlab through tSTD, and they'll do IgG for type 1 and 2, as well as HIV, HepB, HepC, Clap and gonorrhoeae

What am I at risk of?  I can get just herpes tests cheaper...is that sufficient?  I have a girlfriend who I love dearly.  I must be sure of the extent of the consequences of my stupid mistake so I can tell her what happened.

Your symptoms do not suggest STD.  Discomfort a few hours after sex ('the next day') simply cannot be an STD of any kind; no infection can show up that quickly.  The whitehead probably was exactly that; herpes looks quite differnt than that.

There was zero risk from condom-protected vaginal sex.  The only theoretical risks from receiving oral sex are gonorrhea (which you would know because of symptoms); herpes, which your symptoms don't suggest and is extremely low risk from any single such exposure; and non-chlamydial, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), for which no lab test exists--you just have to rely on symptoms.  The theoretical risks of syphilis and HIV are too low to even consider.  And the antibiotics you had will assure that some of the tests you describe (gonorrhea, chlamydia) will be negative.

So I recommend against any STD testing at all, unless there are other STD risks aside from the one you describe. You'll just be wasting your money.  What are you going to do, go off for STD testing every time in your life you have sex with a new partner?  Get real.

Bottom line:  You are overreacting in a big way.  Just forget the whole thing.

Good luck--  HHH,MD
