Urinalysis Results

Doctors,

You can review my previous posts but basically I'm a worried husband who made a mistake at a massage parlor awhile back.  I'm not sure if it's due to an infection or my stressing (probably more likely) but I have had some mild discomfort during urination recently (no discharge that I'm aware of).  I recently got some medical exams as part of an insurance policy for an investment and I got the following back (the test was in latin america and the results were in spanish but I did my best at a translation along side the posted):

Color - Amarillo paja (straw yellow)
Aspecto (aspect) - Ligeramente turbio (slightly cloudy)
Gavedad Especificia (Specific Gravity) - 1.025
pH - 6.0
Albumina (Albumin?) - None
Glucosa (Glucose) - None

Leucocitos (Leukocytes) - 2 (450 diam. field of magnification)
Eritrocitos (Red Blood Cells) - 1 (450 diam. field of magnification)
Nitritos (Nitrites) - None
Filamentos Mucosos (Mucus filaments?) - Many

I'm wondering if I should worry about these results.  Specifically the Leukocytes/Red Blood Cells/Mucus elements.  I basically got like 10 seconds of oral sex that was profoundly shallow but I've been worried about it ever since.  I was kind of getting over it but now there is this.  My wife has had no burning during urination or unusual discharge.  Please advise.

Welcome back to the forum.  However, I am concerned that you are overly worried.  Based on my quick review of the discussion you had with Dr. Hook, you have no STD.  You should not keep testing for it.

Urinalysis is not intended to check for STD and is not a useful test for that purpose.  Many people with gonorrhea, chlamydia or other STDs have entirely normal urinalysis; and most abnormal urinalysis is not due to STD.  It is a worthless test for this purpose. Having said that, your urinalysis is normal.  A few leukocytes and red blood cells commonly are present, and these are very small numbers.

I hope this helps you move beyond your fears.  Please stop testing for STDs.

Regards--   HHH, MD
