Urine Test after PAP smear & swab

Hi

I asked you a question nearly a year ago about a possible STD which I was worried about after having a one night stand with a partner who was not my wife.  Anyway, your advice was correct, I got checked out at the local STD clinic and all my results were negative so I might not have anything to worry about with the following question but would just like some advice anyway.
My wife went for her Cervical Smear screening test 2 weeks ago, they took the smear and a swab test.  One week later she got a letter saying the doctor had read her report and asking her to return for an 'early morning' urine sample in 3 weeks (so 4 weeks from date of smear/swab).  She telephoned the doctors office and spoke to the receptionist who though that it may be something to do with chlamydia as she had been given a swab test but didn't know for sure.
I am now worried that maybe I did pass something on, although I avoided sex until I got my STD results back as all clear. Any reason why the Doctor would be requesting this urine test?  Should I be worried?

Thanks

Not much to add.  I think you need more information form your GF's health care provider.  I will be interested to hear what you learn.  EWH

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.  I have done some research and found that it is now standard practice in this country to carry out a chlamydia swab during the smear test.  From what I've read it would seem that the swab is a very accurate test so I am unsure why this would require a further test 4 wks later with a urine test unless the swab test was inconclusive? or something else was found?
The only other contributing factor I can think of was that I attended a bachelor party 4 months ago, there were lapdancers giving a lesbian show which was shockingly graphic, one of them was putting her fingers in the others vagina and then without warning wiped her fingers across my mouth.  I had forgotten about this unfortunate incident but now wonder if I may have caught something which I then passed on through oral sex??  although I have had no symptoms of anything.
Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

I am sorry, I may not be able to help you sort out what the doctor is thinking. I went back and reviewed your interaction with Dr. Handsfield last June.  At that time you indicated very low risk exposure- condom protected vaginal sex and receipt of oral sex with another partner.  You mentioned that you had taken a variety of antibiotics but said nothing about testing.  You know indicate that you were tested and found to be negative.  Thus, the story is a bit disjointed and hard to follow.  Be that as it may be, if you had negative chlamydial tests a year ago, there really is almost no way that you could have passed infection on to your wife.  Current tests are very, very good.  Furthermore, you received highly effective treatment so that if you had actually had an STD, it would have been eliminated by your  therapy.  Finally,  there is no data to say that an early morning urine test for chlamydia is any better than a test later in the day.  I am not sure that the person your wife spoke with was clear in what she was saying.

Perhaps when your wife goes into the clinic whe will get a clearer story.  Let me know and perhaps I can help more.  EWH
