by scaredmark, Oct 05, 2007 05:44AM
What meds are prescribed for either or both fo these?  how many milligrams?
DO they ALWAYS have to stick a cotton swab down teh urethra to see if you have these STDs?  Or can they do a uranalysis?
Anyone had it so I can know?

For Chlamydia, they did a urine test for me, and prescribed 4 pills of "Zithromax" antibiotic to take all at once. It cured me pretty quickly. Now, Gonorrhea, don't quote me on this, but I think they need to do a swab for this, and they often use another medicine than Zithromax.

You can do a specific urine test to check for G/C and it is very accurate then having to do the swab.  I know doxycycline is another antibiotic which is effective against Chlamydia and other types of bacteria type infections.

Yes,  It is just as accurate and in some cases the preferred way to test for G/C especially when you do not have any symptoms..

The best test for gonorrhea and chlamydia is urine amplification test.  You no longer need to endure the pain of them doing a urethral swab test.  You simply urinate in a cup and they do an amplification test and look for the DNA of gonorrhea and chlamydia.  This is the most accurate testing available for chlamydia, and is extremely accurate for gonorrhea as well.

Treatment for chlamydia includes a one time dosage of zithromax (1,000mg) or a 7-day course of doxycycline (100mg, twice a day).

Treatment for gonorrhea used to include Ciprofoloxacin, however due to resistant strains, the recommended treatment now is an intramuscular injection of Ceftriaxone (250mg).
