Warts Active or Not?

Are warts consider "active" only when you can see them?

Are warts passed by it being active and skin to skin touch or can it passed by fluids?

Hi there -

Its good that she is going to get a pap, and she should also talk to her doc about the HPV vaccine.

And she has already been exposed, so that means she will (or has) developed antibodies to that strain, and you have them, so you won't be passing it back and forth.

At this point, you don't really need to change anything.

ok...I'm schedule to have my warts removed, I have 5 warts and the doctor says its mild.  It's on the base of my penis where the condom does reach to. My partner is schedule to have a PAPs.

Based on everything it seems like now we are going to just pass it back inforth to each other until someone has a sign or symptom.  Then it's back to the doctor...is this how we have to live?

Hmm sorry about that.

Yes, it can be.  Most HPV infections are asymptomatic, and if you have it, you might not remember any warts on your partners, yet you still got it.

The ASHA STD site was down.

Can HPV be passed even if there are no signs or symptoms?

Hi there -

Can we keep all your questions to one thread?  It would help a lot.

No, you can have HPV (the virus that causes warts) and not have any signs or symptoms.  HPV is passed by skin to skin contact.

You should go to the ASHA STD site, and click on learn about stds, then HPV.
