Warts or something else?

by austxldy, Oct 24, 2004 12:00AM
I recently found 2 very small bumps on my mound area. I've had warts on my hands many times before and these do not look the same. They look like one skin cell (for lack of a better way to describe it) that's enlarged and protruding...and again, they're very small. I'm wondering if these might be HPV warts or just a skin tag.

I just had a pap 2 months ago and it turned out normal. I haven't had sex with anyone in a year.

About 7 years ago I had an abnormal pap by my GP and the doc (the same GP) did a colposcopy, which came back normal. I saw a gyno, who did some other sort of scraping/biopsy, and that came back normal. I also had repeat paps every 6 months for 2 years and since then a pap every year. Everything has been normal.

Do you think these bumps are anything to worry about?

It's really impossible to know what the bumps may be without seeing them.  Hand warts almost never are self-transmitted to the genital area.  Your past abnormal pap probably has nothing to do with it.  If the bumps persist, and certainly if they are growing, see your health care provider.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
