Was i lied too?

My wife who was my girlfriend at the time contracted chlamydia from(according to her) a friend who had chlamydia wore her underwear. She claimed she was unaware that the friend had the STD and put the underwear on and got it that way. What bothers me is she still has the the underwear that the friend wore until this day. I want to know if there is a chance of transmitting chlamydia by sharing under-roo's?
