Weird Sore Throat - Exact Symptoms Posted from 'sowhatsmyprob' 10/25/2005

by Urbanguyvan, Aug 23, 2006 12:00AM
In October of 2005, I had an encounter with a girl.  I performed oral sex on her.  A few days later, I had a severe fever, cold sweat, chills and on top of this a very sore throat.  My tonsils, mainly on the right were enlarged and had white puss-like bubbles.  I went to the doctors and he quickly diagnosed me with having Strepp throat. He did not give me a swab test at this time and perscribed me with Amoxicillin (sp?).  I was taking Amoxicillin for almost a week but was not feeling any better.  During that week, I received a phone call from a friend who told me his friend got Gonorrhea from the same girl who I had been with.  Armed with this information, I went back to see my doctor.  He gave me pills to treat Gonorrhea and Chlamydia and at this point gave me a swab test (I was already taking Amoxicillin for past few days).  The swab tests came back negative but because I already was taking antibiotics, it was very possible that the swab tests results were skewed.  Tests also came back negative for Mono.  Having said this, I found the pills to treat Gonorreha and Chlamydia helped me more than Amoxicillin.  My fever subsided but my tonsils and sore throat continued to be a problem.  I went to an ENT physician and told him my history.  He conducted the standard tests; amoxicillin, nasal allegry and recommended that it was a cause of a deviated septum (But I have never had problems with this).  To this day, my tonsils, mainly on the right side are still swollen.  My oulva has two bumps on them and the back of my throat has small little bumps.  On top of this, my throat is red.  Both the General Doctor and ENT physician have said I am fine.

Role forward to present day.  I had an encounter with a women.  We had protected sex.  She performed oral on me.  I did not perform oral on her.  A couple of days later, my throat again is acting up and I've noticed small, white, puss-like bubbles on the right side of my tonsils.  I dont have a harsh fever but my knuckles in both hands are severely sore.  Very difficult for me to clutch my hands into a fist.  I've visited the doctor's and he has given me a swab test.  I am not taking medication until I get the results back.

I am more concerned with my first encounter.  Personally, I feel that my throat problems never completely healed.  I feel like there is something not right but the doctor's tell me there is nothing wrong.  I had a chance to read "sowhatsmyprob" question posted 10/25/2005 and replied by Forum M.D.-HHH.  He has experienced almost to a perfect 10 what i have experienced.  I strongly feel it is NOT paranoia (cop out explanation).  Aside from this health issue, I am a fitness freak, clear-minded indivdual.

PLEASE, PLEASE, read the question posted by "sowhastmyprob" 10/25/2005.  I am experiencing what he has been going thru.  I feel lost and do not know who to talk too. Isn't it odd that he experienced the same symptoms after a sexual encounter?

I'm sorry, I don't have time to go back to old threads.  If your story is the same as someone else's, my replies undoubtedly are the same.

In response to "Isn't it odd that he experienced the same symptoms after a sexual encounter?":  Absolutely not, it isn't odd at all.  Think it through logically:  millions of people have sex every day and millions of people get sore throats every day.  By simple random association, that means that hundreds of thousands of people develop a sore throat soon after having sex.  So you and that fellow have lots of company!  Your symptoms, and probably those in the earlier thread, almost certainly are only randomly associated with the sexual exposures, especially since careful testing for STD showed nothing.

In any case, you clearly do not have an STD to explain your symptoms.  If two docs, including an ENT specialist, cannot find anything wrong, there is no way I or any online source can come up with an answer based on your written description.  Most likely you had a garden variety respiratory virus then and have another one now.  Follow up with your own doctor if the symptoms don't go away soon.

Good luck-- HHH, MD

To: Everyone doctor
similiar symptoms with me too , except for anti-biotics worked fine with me . still the throat is not back to 100% .
i too have puss or abcess (abscess) on my tonsils & white or pale toungue along with fatigue(dunno if fatigue is really there or in my mind only).
if only your one side is effected , maybe your could ask your ENT specciallist to check you again for PERITONSILLAR ABCCESS(i hope the spelling is right).
