What Could it Be??

Hi Doc. About a month ago i went for my full annual STD check up which all came back negative. About a week after i had the test i was given unprotected oral sex from a female for approx 1 min, ( there was no ejaculation.) Since this time i have a feeling of " dampness" in my underwear although i have never seen ANY discharge. The head of my penis also feels a bit sticky to touch although there is never any fluid or discharge in that area or any stains in the underwear. Aso there is no pain whatsoever when urinateing but sometimes i think i have finished put the penis away and then some more urine dribbles out!! also i seem to want to go more often.

Based on what i have told you do you think it could be chlamydia? also how reliable are the urine tests for chlamydia ( pcr test??)which i had in the uk GUM clinic.

I realise gonnoreah is possibly transmitted via oral but i have read males would have discharge and pain, so can i discount this?

Does any of the symptoms i have described sound like anything std related i should be tested for?

The exposure i have described is my only exposure since being tested.

Also is there a reason why gonnoreah is more readily transmitted via oral sex and chlamydia is not?

Thanks for all the great advice you give on this site, it is very much appreciated by many people globally.

That's supposed to read "is not likely to be the cause..."  I cannot guarantee it didn't cause unwise's symptoms, but I have never seen such a case or anyone with digger's symptoms that was caused by yeast.

Genital yeast infection (thrush) is not the cause of such symptoms.

That is the main recommended NGU treatment and is ususally effective.  However, based on your original question, I doubt NGU is the problem.

Well, if you have been on antibiotics they can cause a bit of thrush down below which can include some discharge.  Happened to me when I took antibiotics after a low risk potential exposure from unprotected oral.

I really can't comment usefully on a "feeling" of moisture but no visible discharge, underwear stains, etc.  But urinary urgency ("I gotta go right NOW") and post-void dribbling can indicate increased bladder tone ("overactive bladder") and/or partial blockage of urine flow, of the sort that most commonly results from prostate gland enlargment.  Anxiety can do this, or can make a preexisting problem worse, but these symptoms don't result from any STD and probably are unrelated to the oral sex event a month ago, except for possibility of anxiety over the event.

Gonorrhea can be transmitted by oral sex because gonorrhea commonly infects the throat, i.e. is acquired by oral sex.  Chlamydia rarely takes hold in the throat, therefore cannot be transmitted to the urethra by fellatio (or only verry rarely).

If your symptoms persist, return to the GUM clinic.  The providers there are expert in bladder/prostate problems as well as STDs.

Thanks for the thanks.  Good luck--  HHH, MD
