What STD

by vandilay, May 24, 2009 09:23PM
For a year I have not felt right. I have a very stiff neck and swollen lymphnodes under jaw. I also get scalp sores. I have been tested for HIV and syphilis and it was negative. I have been given minocycline for my scalp sores and that cleared them up as well as the stiff neck and swollen glands. After using up the prescription the symptoms seem to come back. I have had the minocycline perscriptions twice and both times they fixed the problem and both times after the prescription was used up the symptoms came back. My wife has also had the scalp sores. She also has a runny nose and a cough that will not go away (6 months now ). It seems like the  minocycline works but is just not strong enough, or me and my wife just keep passing this back and forth to each other. I was terrified that I had HIV but the test proved otherwise. I am wondering if anyone would know what these symptoms may be indicating. The doctor is giving me the minocycline for the scalp sores not for anything else so it is possible I am not getting what I need to fix the bigger problem. Any ideas would be appreciated

Given your negative tests for HIV and syphilis, an STD is not likely to be the cause of your symptoms. What you describe could be from any number of ailments. Only your doctor would be able to determine what is going on; however, you will have to tell him/her about your other symptoms. Your wife should also go get checked out herself.
