I've been here before, and some bad luck in life has led me to another some what questionable decision. Last night I was with a girl and she performed unprotected oral sex on me for about 2 mins and then we had protected sex for about 30 seconds (at which point I stopped it because this just wasn't what I wanted). I checked the condom after and there was definitely no breakage it so I'm not neccessarily worried about anything that transmits that way.
I've had some itching in my groin region basically in the entire area, and I'm curious if that could be a sign of anything ? I wouldn't think so because i believe it takes longer than 8 hours for symptoms to appear if I did catch something. Also I've had to pee somewhat more frequently but since the condom did not break I'm really not at risk for anything that could have caused that, is that correct ?
Welcome back to our Forum. In preparing to answer your question I took the opportunity to review your earlier interactions with Terri and Dr. Handsfield back in January. From this I can see both that you worry about the potential STD consequences of new/casual sexual encounters and I get the sense that you are using condoms for than you have in the past, something that I congratulate you for.
With respect to your recent exposure and symptoms, from what you say there is little reason for concern. Condom protected sex is safe sex and your condom did not fail during this exposure. As luck would have it, moments before I read your questions I had answered questions form another client about oral sex. Here is the link to my comments regarding your unprotected oral exposure http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Worrying-about-an-unprotected-oral-sex--need-help/show/1923553 . In addition, I should also point out that the symptoms you are describing are not at all suggestive of STD. There are no STDs which cause symptoms in less than two days following exposure and both the frequent urination and itch that you describe are common manifestations of anxiety and the tendency to focus on one's genitals when a person is worried about STD. This causes people to be more aware of perfectly normal sensations which are overlooked if one is not looking for them but when perceived, manifest themselves as itching. I would not worry at all for any of these symptoms.
The exposure you describe does not warrant concern, immediate testing or treatment. I hope my comments are helpful to you EWH
As a follow up question , does oral herpes follow a similar pattern? She had no visible sores (I looked) and I did Not perform oral sex on her. I know there's always a chance , if she had something could I have caught it there.
This will be my final question, and I know my anxiety is possibly the cause of a lot of this and is why I will be making some serious changes to what I am doing in life.
Basically I just meant I feel some type of sensation on my upper lip and was curious if that could also be area focused anxiety...what are the chances I could catch hsv 1 from her just from kissing without a sore (she is also studying to be a pharmacist so I am guessing it she has had them she would know the proper medications to treat it)
sorry if I wasn't clear , just helps ease my anxiety (to which I know the real solution is to avoid situations like this and that is why I stopped during)
Thanks a lot for your help doc, I just have one final question before I am done.
This is the third day and I still have itching in my groin area, and as you said it can be caused my anxiety picking up on things I wouldn't notice if I wasn't worried. That said , my final question out of curiousity is that if this was herpes would the itch be all over or would it just be centralized to where an outbreak was coming? Also wouldn't there be a red mark appearing somewhere at this point (3 days since it started )
Again this is my final question, and thank you so much for your help
Wish I didn't have to post again, I've had irritated lips for a while now that are usually red and sometimes can hurt. That said, the last 2 1/2 days I've also had a sore throat and now the right side of my lip has become increasingly red and has a weird feeling (it has for the past 3 days and maybe that's because I've been concentrating on it). That said , considering its been feeling this way for about a day and a half to 2 days now, if this is an Initial outbreak I should expect blisters to put up soon ? Sorry to ask again, I'm just very scared this time I'm not so lucky and what would suck is I would have gotten it just from kissing
Also what really scares me Is if I did somehow
Contract hsv 1 orally then I could also have contracted hsv 1 genitally. Full panic mode here basically with this new development and I know you has responded more than enough times but I'm basically losing it.
