What are the risks for oral sex, and should I get tested?

Good day to all experts,

Just wanna ask, how high are the risks of contracting any form of STD via oral sex? Does this mean that if the other partner has a certain STD (e.g. gonorrhoea), means if you have oral sex with him, you're sure to contract that STD?

What form of STD can you get through "receiving oral sex" and "giving oral sex"? Under what circumstances should I go for testing?

Pls help, thanks.

I ask myself why is this thread continuing? It's because you will not take the answers that have been provided.

Auntie Jess!

Thanks for your reply. Hmm, so based on all the story threads above, do you think I am infected with either gonorrhoea or NGU and require testing?

So the bottom line is, I should move on with my life, and I should be fine? Unless symptoms like discharge or burning occurs, then see a doctor right? :)

Yes, the estimate is 90%-95% of males show symptoms of gonorrhea and an even higher percentage show signs of NGU. The Dr's on this site said they have never seen a case of NGU without discharge.
And oral sex is low risk.

I had a similar problem as you did months ago and I was worried, but after getting the facts I have calmed down a lot and now I am here trying to help people.

I see, I'll consider for a little while regarding the testing issue.

If there's no discharge, no pain or burning, we can somehow say that the chances of contracting NGU or gonorrhoea is pretty low already right?

I don't know what more to say, it burns when you pee. It is a very intense feeling of burning. It hurts pretty bad.

You can test if you want to for your own piece of mind. The Dr's on this site recommend testing for piece of mind and if symptoms show.

Thanks all.

Can anyone describe or elaborate on what's "burning upon urinating"?

My eczema is not very serious, but I've never got an eczema outbreak since I was born. My parents also do not have a history of eczema. That is why I will think whether my eczema relates to any STD.

So can I conclude that I do not need to go the GUM clinic for a checkup?

eczema is nit an STD. It is a skin disorder where you have really dry skin. It is not contagious, but it is hereditary and can be easily managed with dry skin cream such as eucerine or other generic dry skin products, but it is DEFINTELY NOT AN STD I have had it all my life and see dermatologist about it frequently, the only thing it is is annoying

Yes symptoms would have started and you would notice them and they do not come and go. You either have symptoms od you don't.

I do not know if syphilis is itchy. The sore would be located when the other sore touched. Most likely on the penis somewhere.

"You would probably have had symptoms of the genitals for gonorrhea and NGU by now.
Burning while urinating...you would notice it really burns, something you would really notice."

What do you mean? Do you mean if I am infected, those symptoms would have appeared and I will feel burning when I urine already right? When you say about the symptoms, it's ongoing and not only one-time or for one day only right?

Are syphilis rashes itchy? Where do they normally locate?

I am not a Dr so I am not going to rate anything.
NGU and gonorrhea most commonly affect the penis. The throat is possible for gonorrhea but not very common, but possible.

You would probably have had symptoms of the genitals for gonorrhea and NGU by now.
Burning while urinating...you would notice it really burns, something you would really notice.

I would not worry about STD's at this point. You can test for 1 week for gonorrhea and NGU-throat you would have to have a throat swab. And after 6-8 weeks for HIV and syphilis.

I really wanna move on with life but I still don't know whether am I STD-free or something. Argh.

Fyi, my last sexual activity was on 5 Sept 2008.

I asked about whether eczema as a form of STD because my doctor told me it's eczema,, but i'm just worried whether eczema is a symptom of syphilis or what?

Most NGU and gonorrhoea infections occur in the throat or genitals?

I do not think I have discharge, and I feel normal when I urine during the first14 days. Can you elaborate on "burning while urinating"?

I gave oral sex to a guy, and vice versa for the guy too (he gave me oral too).

So far, I have no fever, no sore throat and no discharge. From what you see, from the scale of 1 to 5, how dangerous is my situation now?

NGU has the same sypmtoms as gonorrhea and will start usually within 14 days...buring while urinating and/or discharge. You can get tested but really no need unless you start to have symptoms.

I do not know eczema to be a form of an STD

Easiest to get would be gonorrhea and NGU.

But to clarify...you are a guy, did you give or receive oral sex and was it to/by a man or woman? What if any symptoms do you have?

Thanks for the reply :)

I don't know whether am I suffering from anxiety or have I contracted any form of STD.

I've checked for gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. All are negative.

1. What is NGU? What is the incubation period and the exact symptoms? Should I go check if I do not have any symptoms?

2. Is eczema a form of STD?

3. Which STD(s) are easily contracted through oral sex?

No expert here just a man with some knowledge.

Oral sex is a low risk, but possible to get an STD.
If a man has gonorrhea and you give him oral sex it does not mean you will get it. If your boyfriend has gonorrhea then at some point you will get it via oral sex. But if just a 1 time thing then it is low risk.

Receiving oral (Man)-Gonorrhea, NGU, herpes and syphilis. Receiving (woman)-herpes and syphilis are possible

Giving to (man) gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis and HIV. With HIV some people say no risk other say very very low risk.
Giving to (woman) syphilis and herpes, anything else is very rare.
