What do I have?

by Bronkus, Aug 11, 2007 11:59PM
I recently experienced all the symptoms of an STD, pus from my penis, swollen lymph nodes in my torso, red penis head, burning while urinating, pain in my testicles. I went to seek treatment and I was prescribed 1 dose of 4 250 milligram zithromax pills and a shot of pennicilin in my right buttox. All of my symptoms seemed to fade away, but its been about 10 days now and I seem to be getting some symptoms back. Today my penis head is red again and I experienced pain in my testiscles. I also keep getting tingling sensations in my penis tip. The lymph nodes in my neck are swollen this time. I was wondering if anyone knows what I don't have and what I may have... I got the test results back and they came back negative for Gonnorhea. I'm not sure what else he tested for. I'm going back to the doctor's on tuesday and was wondering if you had any ideas on what he could prescribe me. This guy seems like hes a bit clueless when it comes to STD's please help me out one what pills i need. Thank you!

Pennicilin is a poor choice for gonorrhea treatment, but if your test is negative anyway, don't worry about that.  The Zithromax should be effective for most things.  After you get the results of the rest of the tests you had done, post them here and I'll try to help you out.

I went back to the doctor's today and he said that the Diarrhea is either from the zithromax or just a coincidence. My lymph nodes are back to normal and everything seems fine now. He told me that I tested negative for everything, but he still thinks I had Clamydia (chlamydia). He said that I have been treated and should have nothing to worry about.

If you took a NAAT before you took your antibiotics and it was negative for chlamydia, chances are you didn't have chlamydia.  NAATs are very sensitive. I think part of the problem with some doctors is that they (very incorrectly) believe that gonorrhea and chlamydia are the only two organisms which cause urethritis.  That is just not the case.

However, if your symptoms are resolving, whatever you did have is probably gone.

BTW your doctor is correct, diarrhea is a common side effect of zithromax.

I'm not sure if it was a NAAT? It was a swab of the inside of my penis and it burnt like hell! Thanks so much for your help stillHurting, you have relieved me more than you could imagine.
