What is going on?? Urethral redness

I recently caught NGU from oral sex. The swab came back showing infection and I was on 2 weeks of anti-biotics. My symptoms were quite mild- mild irritation in penis and a redness around the urethra opening on the tip of my penis. There was no pain on urination, discharge, blisters, sores, etc. Chlamydia and Gono came back negative.

I got another swab test done 2 weeks after the encounter and after my anti--biotics treatment, and it came back negative- no urethritis, no infection, WBC count normal. But my problem is, I still have this redness around my urethra, it has faded somewhat but is definitely still there and its concerning me. I occasionally have the mild irritaion in my penis that comes and goes too.

Any ideas what this could be? Can I be sure I definitely dont have anything anymore? Could this redness be something else? Will it go away with time?

If your swab is negative then I would not worry about an infection but with the medication taken...probably just irritation. If it does not go down see a Dr. If you don't have a steady partner then you should be using condoms but if you do have one maybe use a condom until it goes away.

Ok thanks. Now that my swab came back and said I have no infection in my urethra, can I rely on this to be accurate? So you think the redness could just be some irritation that is taking time to settle down?

I just want to be sure that its not anything serious, or that I am infectious to others.

I would suggest a follow up with your Dr. The redness might be simple irritation from the swab or other things.
