What the heck???

by BonnieParker, Oct 22, 2008 05:16PM
Last month my fiance and I got a little too frisky and had vaginal sex after anal with no wash-up in between.  Today, I was diagnosed with trichomonas.  I'm ready to have 'that talk' with him, because I havent been with anyone else. I have always understood trich to be an STD, which will probably end our engagement.  Is there ANY chance, before I see him, that the anal bacteria could be the cause? Thanks!

This one is really hard to explain as Trichomonas is not ALWAYS sexually transmitted. An exam and treatment by youyr Doctor is important as well as treatment for your partner. Take care.

Thanks.  We're starting a two week course of Flagyl today. After that, back for a follow-up exam.

2 weeks of Flagyl is way overkill.

The recommended dose for trich is either 2 gm at one time, or 500 mg twice a day for 7 days.
